Director, Materials Management



About The Role:

To provide leadership for the Boston Scientific functions of Purchasing, Raw Material & Finished Goods Inventory Management, Warehousing, Traffic, and Distribution in Arden Hills, MN and San Jose, CA to insure the optimization of these functions.



Your Responsibilities Include:


  • Develop strategic and stable supply chains to support the business through effective supplier management.
  • Participate in the planning and support of new product introductions by effective coordination of support group efforts in a single site or across multiple facilities.
  • Represents function on all major inter-company information systems projects; focus on maximized customer service levels, and minimized inventory and obsolescence through effective Planning, Purchasing and Distribution systems and processes.
  • Practitioner of Lean approaches to eliminate waste such as cycle time, delivery frequency or batch size improvements and development and implementation of Pull and Flow solutions.
  • Material supply management and improving supplies at healthy stock designs while mitigating supply risks.
  • Warehouse management to ensure safety, product flow, inventory management systems, optimization and technology solutions.
  • Participate in the development of accurate and healthy inventory systems and procedures for warehousing and consignment inventories.
  • Build effective work relationships with business leaders within and outside the organization to identify needs and drive systemic change to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Maintain strategic distribution methods to meet corporate objectives of improved service at a lower cost of goods.
  • Support & participate in BSC Corporate freight initiatives and comply with BSC Corporate freight routing guide(s).
  • Manages to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory/legal requirements.  This may consist of, but is not necessarily to limited to, Unemployment Insurance, Americans with Disabilities (ADA), Affirmative Action, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC), Environmental, Health and Safety including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Quality System Regulations (FDA), ISO 13485, MDD, PAL, CMDCAS, KFDA, other country specific Regulations as applicable.
  • Provides input and complies with policies for inventory management.
  • Provides direction for the development of policies, analytical tools and for the identification of inventory trends and opportunities.




What We're Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Master's in Engineering or MBA degree preferred.
  • Extensive leadership experience required.
  • 10+ years engineering/regulated industry related experience required.
  • 5+ years Material Management experience
