The Lean Specialist III will be a driver of continuous improvement on the production floor with great visibility from management.  They will execute in multiple departments along with support campus initiatives.  There will also be great opportunities for career advancement with high performance.


About this role:

This position is intended to help drive continuous improvement at Arden Hills by identifying opportunities for improvement, collecting data, and developing innovative and sustainable solutions. Continuous improvement work will be focused in the medical device manufacturing environment as well as the office environment (non-manufacturing).


Your Responsibilities:

  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools and principles to identify opportunities for improvement (Gemba, 8 Wastes, 5S, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Perform accurate data collection to help justify improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to help build strong relationships to ensure project success.
  • Lead and manage projects to meet customer demands and timelines.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and maintenance of effective metrics.
  • Create strong relationships with internal and external customers to ensure project success.
  • Provide ideas and recommendations to engineering teams to help reduce manufacturing costs, improve yields, and improve quality.
  • Learn and gain a thorough understanding of all processes/operations within the value stream with a goal to become a subject matter expert.
  • Typical workday will be 6am – 2pm (1st shift), but may be adjusted depending on the value streams supported. Must have flexibility to be able to work on assignments on 2nd or 3rd shift periodically. Also, must be flexible to work extended hours on occasion depending on project timelines.


What we are looking for

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED & 2 years of related work experience (LEAN) OR equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated history of success working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to problem solve using Lean Manufacturing Principles and Tools
  • Ability to work across multiple levels within the organization


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading projects
  • Experience working in the medical device manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Experience participating in and/or leading Kaizen events
