Process Development Engineer II

 

About the role:

  • This experienced engineer will work on product and process development to lead the design and commercialization of new cutting edge technology at our Arden Hills facility. 
  • The candidate must have a desire to utilize their skills to solve technical/complex problems in a hands-on manner, working in a fast paced environment, and across multiple functions in a global company.  
  • The successful candidate for this position will provide strong leadership and problem solving to enable medical device innovation. 
  • Use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for innovation and continuous improvement to drive growth through efficient and effective commercialization of new products and targeted improvements.  
  • This position offers the opportunity to support process development and product commercialization throughout Boston’s global plant network.
  • Works cross-functionally to develop capable process and complex technologies on new products and ensures efficient and effective transfer of product into production

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assesses process capabilities, prioritizes process improvement opportunities, and innovates and implements process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes.
  • Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
  • Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
  • Prepares and presents technical data and recommendations at technical reviews.
  • Writes validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes.
  • Ensures proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM’s, Routers, FMEA’s, etc.)
  • Oversees development builds associated with the project using special work requests.
  • Develops qualified production lines.
  • Provides Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input to the engineering print package.
  • Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions.
  • May serve as a core team lead or extended team member on new development projects.
  • Possibly supervisor and/or mentor engineers with the team.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or Chemistry and 2+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated use of  DFSS tools (DOE, problem solving)
  • 2+ years of demonstrated process development / improvement activities
  • Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technically demanding environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop processes from concept to production
  • Open to occasional travel of up to 25% of their time.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical, Chemical or BioMedical Engineer
  • Highly motivated individual that can independently drive deliverables to completion through collaboration among team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive innovative solutions into processes and products.
  • Medical Device Design experience; new product development
  • Experience working with plastics, metals and joining methods; UV adhesives, laser welding, resistance welding
  • Process Development;  equipment validations and process characterization and validation experience
  • Experience with soldering.
  • Experience with plasma processing (surface modification, cleaning, etching)
