R&D Engineer II

 

About the role:

  • In Rhythm Management (RM), we offer solutions for treating irregular heart rhythms and heart failure and protecting against sudden cardiac arrest. In addition, we offer solutions with 3D mapping and navigation systems, radiofrequency ablation catheters, diagnostic catheters, EP recording systems, and intracardiac access sheaths.
  • Responsible for providing engineering support and expertise in the definition, design, development and test of new and existing implantable medical devices.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.
  • Solves engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.
  • Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.
  • Actively promotes and participates in a cross -functional teamwork environment.
  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Writes validation and verification protocols and reports applicable to new test methods and products.
  • Investigates and evaluates existing technologies and manufacturing techniques.
  • Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support development.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with 2-5 years related work experience OR 0-2 years with MS.
  • Self-Starter with the ability to work independently to plan, schedule and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Ability to identify problems and solve them with root cause analysis, including designing and executing experimental plans and using statistical methodologies to drive data-based decisions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and evaluating test methods and fixtures.
  • Ability to work hands-on with test systems and develop new test systems as needed.
  • Experience performing DOE’s and Gage R&R studies; Matlab experience is a plus.
  • Working technical knowledge of implantable medical devices.
  • Knowledge of MRI and RF lab equipment
  • Experience with commercialized product data management systems
