About the role:

This position will be the program-level technical lead for a multi-year product development effort in Boston Scientific’s Urology Business Unit.  The novel devices from these programs are designed to transform Urology therapies and be the next major growth drivers for a business that is rapidly approaching $400M in revenue worldwide. The R&D technical lead will work cross functionally and across multiple Boston Scientific divisions and sites to develop the technology required to transform the product line.  This role has high visibility and significant impact, while enjoying the potential for future career development.

This role will be based at the Arden Hills location and will involve travel to the Minnetonka and other BSC sites.


Your responsibilities include:
  • Leading technical decision-making processes using best practice methodologies
  • Organizing, planning, and tracking design problems associated w/product performance in engineering, manufacturing and the field.
  • Development of high quality implantable and external products.
  • Providing competitive advantage in performance, cost & quality.
  • Defining and implementing system requirements and specifications using engineering methods.
  • Auditing and developing, specifications, test plans, schedules, and success criteria for technical development.
  • Documenting requirements reports, memos, and change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.
  • Solving key technical problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Coordinating with subsystem technical leads for system integration.
  • Mentoring engineers in methodologies and domain knowledge
  • Participating in specifying, identifying and hiring the engineering and technical talent necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Working with the Quality and Regulatory to ensure that design and test specs for the system meet all applicable regulatory standards.

 

What we're looking for in you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or SW Engineering
  • 10 Years of new product development experience in medical device industry
  • Experience taking a product from concept through commercialization (Accountable for Product Development Process Activities)
  • Proven leadership related to technical teams and or complex technical decision making
  • Willingness to travel internationally 10%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on implantable devices that include one or more of the following components
    • Electrical Design, Firmware Design, Software Design
    • Remote or mobile monitoring
    • Device Telemetry / BlueTooth Technology
  • Experience working on implantable devices that include electro-mechanical components (e.g. Pacemakers, Defibrillators, Drug Delivery pumps, Neuro Stimulators)
  • System’s Engineering experience – experience defining technical requirements of a system from defined business inputs
  • Experience serving directly on a product development core team.
  • Experience working across multiple design sites
