The SAP Architect will provide an enterprise perspective for the Customer to Cash (CTC)/Sales & Distribution module of SAP and other SAP applications.  Expertise in technical requirements design and support, architecture documentation, system and application integration, data migration and conversion, security and compliance, change management, performance tuning, while providing knowledge transfer within the organization and aligning enterprise standards.  Will be responsible for process and technical governance required to manage complex SAP solution landscape.  The individual must be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and functional knowledge of integrated SAP solutions and upgrades, including SAP S4 HANA.  The solution architect should have strong experience in project implementation processes.  Should have a solid SAP functional background with applied Business Architecture expertise. 


This individual will be part of the Global Information Technology (IT) Department working with our internal and external partners to design and optimize the management, architecture and performance of the SAP ECC and S4 HANA systems at Boston Scientific utilizing an Agile framework, to meet the needs of the overall organization. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Cross-functional SAP Sales & Distribution/Customer to Cash experience
  • Act as a bridge between functional and technical teams
  • Experience with SAP Customer to Cash/Sales & Distribution and overall SAP ERP
  • Understand the underlying SAP architecture and SD/CTC interfacing systems including, but not limited to:
    • EDI
    • Cloud integration tools
    • Single sign-on
    • Secure web services
    • EAI (Websphere)/ETL (Informatica)/API
  • Basis/ABAP experience/knowledge
  • Underlying architectural knowledge of ECC & S4 HANA/CTC
  • Strong background in deployment and roll-out of SAP systems and solutions
  • Strong process background Standards/Governance/System Change management
  • Med Device/Serialized product experience a plus
  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate and regulatory standards and policies.
  • Lead the installation of new software releases, systems upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches, and resolution of software related problems.
  • Manage system performance, system configuration, and data files
  • Ensure data integrity with proper application of BSC security standards
  • Perform project management tasks as required.
  • Participate on cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience leading onshore/offshore technical teams
  • Lead and mentor other team members or business/functional application owners, supervise staff, and participate in staffing decisions on an ongoing basis
  • Conceptualize, present, and execute ideas with particular emphasis on serving as a technical lead on development projects with on-shore and off-shore components, or a team lead or architect across multiple software development projects or workstreams
  • Drive adoption of development methodology best practices, specifically Agile
  • Evangelize and facilitate the SAP S4 HANA platform and eco-system across the organization
  • Identify problem areas (process and technical) and recommend solutions

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

10+ years of experience in software analysis, design, development and programming and or COTS software experience.

  • 4+ years experience working with the SAP ECC and S4 HANA platforms
  • 1-3 years project management experience
  • Strong leadership and verbal/written communication skills, including able to effectively articulate and present different points-of-view to senior and executive management
  • In-depth experience working on SAP planning, design and implementation of projects
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle leveraging Agile methodologies and the specific requirements for maintaining systems in a regulated environment.
  • Proven experience in translating data into actionable business insight
  • Experienced in trouble shooting system & data issues
  • Must be comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment and maintain sensitivity to personnel and corporate concerns
  • Some travel required
  • Experience with leading onshore and offshore technical teams.
  • Mentors team members in technology, architecture and delivery of applications.
  • Successful teamwork experience and demonstrated leadership abilities are required.
  • Proven ability to transfer knowledge and stay aware of current trends and technical advancements.
  • Experience with multiple full lifecycle SAP implementations overseeing the technical direction, development and implementation required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Medical device, life sciences industry background
  • Understanding of relational databases and App Exchange integrations (i.e. Access)
  • Experience with EDI Integration
