The purpose of the Healthcare Solutions & Partnerships team is to help establish Boston Scientific as a leading healthcare Solutions provider. This is achieved by engaging in long-term partnerships with customers, providing them with products, services and solutions which are differentiated and tailored to their needs.

The Strategic Account Manager develops, maintains and expands relationships with strategically important large customers. The role will be assigned to a limited  number of named customers, responsible for achieving sales quota and achieving assigned account objectives. The Strategic Account Manager represents the entire range of Boston Scientific's products and solutions to the dedicated customers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring that the customers needs and expectations are met by the the Company.

To do this effectively, this position is tasked with driving strategic account management collaboration across the company's six different business divisions within the cluster to ensure there is a single coherent solution and engagement strategy in place for these key customers.

The role reports into the Healthcare Solutions and Partnerships Cluster Director.

Key Responsibilities



  • Establish professional relationships internally and within assigned key customers, develop and reinforce relationships at C-Suite level
  • Proactively assess clarify and validate customer needs and strategic objectives on an ongoing basis
  • Proactively leads the Strategic account mapping and planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets and critical milestones for a mid- term period.
  • Co-ordinate involvement of Boston’s divisions and functions within the focus accounts in order to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations.
  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
  • Participate in regular reviews of top accounts, at a Country, Cluster and European level. Track growth and Market Share in top accounts vs other accounts and sales in top accounts versus plan.
  • Act as an ambassador of the Solutions initiative and of Outcomes Selling within the company

  • Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy.

Position Requirements


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • 7 to 10 year experience in a strategic selling or strategic account management position in Healthcare
  • Background in medical device, capital equipment, HCIT
  • Proven experience of influential leadership role within a matrix organization
  • Demonstrate passion for Customers (80% client facing job)
  • Understands the local healthcare ecosystem
  • A good balance of strategic mindset and pragmatic approach when it comes to manage accounts
  • Excellent Sales acumen, familiar with long race/ long-term / continuous engagement sales cycle
  • Excellent at influential leadership, capable to gather and animate a team around an account, and to get the best out of people coming from various domains
  • Exemplary team spirit, values success through collective achievement
  • Structured, rigorous in his reporting
  • Inspiring and engaging in his communication, internally and externally
  • Create trustful environments, internally and with clients
  • Fluency in Dutch, French and English required - 3 lingual is base requirement
  • Willing to travel extensively
