About the role: 
Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated Principal R&D Engineer – Hemodynamics. The successful candidate will participate in the design and development of next generation medical devices.
Be a part of Boston Scientific's ICTx (Interventional Cardiology Therapies) R&D team to develop innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world.  You will use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for innovation to drive growth through efficient and effective development of new products within interventional heart failure.
Drive technology evolution into product, with a fast-fail and collaborative approach to product development.

 

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Apply engineering and mathematical principles to develop core technologies, compose algorithm structures and find solutions to problems.
  • Act as a liaison between research and development teams to drive product integration, utilizing your deep understanding of hemodynamics.
  • Write invention disclosures for developed algorithms and work with patent attorneys to secure intellectual property.
  • Interact with interventional cardiology healthcare providers to understand their needs and formulate them into solvable engineering problems.
  • Consult other R&D team members and leaders on hemodynamic principles.
  • Support Marketing and R&D team members with user needs and requirement development.
  • Support R&D team members with test method development for verification and validation.
  • Document work in technical reports and present your findings to other R&D team members.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ Years of relevant work experience with MS
  • 4+ Years of relevant work experience with PhD
  • Experience in Python and Matlab for data analysis and algorithm development.
  • Experience in medical devices and hemodynamics.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in cardiac physiology, hemodynamic control or cardiovascular biomechanics.
  • Proficient in Matlab and Python.
  • Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and/or experience using CFD software tools.
  • Experience with Swan-Ganz catheterization.
  • Understanding of Pressure-Volume loop analysis.
  • Ability to interface effectively with customers to gather insights.
  • Track record of researching, developing and launching products with commercial success.
  • Demonstrated capability to produce innovative solutions for complex technical problems.
  • Personal drive, individual accountability & a strong bias for action
  • Strong personal credibility & excellent communication and collaboration skills
