A Manager I, Project Management is a general manager of a product family or development program. Specifically, this role will be responsible for leading Sustaining Engineering and Geographic Expansion initiatives for the TheraSphere Y-90 Glass Microspheres product platform and associated accesories.  Responsibilities include development and execution of a program plan to deliver on business and/or operational commitments, manage resource needs and communicates clear project direction to team members. These responsibilities span from program initiation to global commercialization. This role will collaborate with US and international team members.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Project/Program Management:  Develops and implements project plan, or sub-element of a project, including cost, schedule, risk and performance for new product introduction or sustainment; Builds team ownership and commitment to project plans; Provides structured thinking to project team on overall approach and delegates as appropriate; Directs and trains to key project management processes. Leads the team in appropriate decision making through strong judgment and the ability to analyze options and implications.
  • Communications and Reviews:  Responsible for team and cross-functional level communications; Act as liaison between the team and senior leadership; defines and tracks key business unit metrics; Responsible for elevating critical business decisions on existing products to the appropriate management boards and/or functional management; Documents project meeting minutes, issues, and metrics; Effectively works with other Program Managers on large projects as needed.
  • Relationship/People Management:  Provides input to functional managers on team and team member performance; Fosters and develops cross-functional collaboration.
  • Product/Technology Management: Provides input to the technical approach to technology application and new product development; Identifies, communicates, and manages project risk with within appropriate level of experience.
  • Process Management:  Knowledge of quality system use for the creation and continued compliance of products; Actively reviews policy and practice improvements to drive functional excellence; Influences cross-functional systems effectiveness.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Business related discipline and 5+ years of work experience in product development OR
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Business related discipline and 3+ years of work experience in product development
  • Demonstrated project management experience leading cross functional teams with responsibility for managing project scope, schedule, budget and performance
  • Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Results-oriented, positive attitude focused on delivering timely, accurate and best in class execution
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to communicate and present across all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering background preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects in the medical device industry
  • Supplier engineering experience and/or demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships and supplied components

Acts as an adviser to subordinates and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Evaluates performance of and assists in career development planning for subordinates.

Functions as an advisor to a unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Investigates and solves problems that impact work processes and personnel within the assigned unit. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems.

Manages projects of small to moderate scope including schedules, scope, costs and resources. May participate in cross-function teams.

 

Planning and Organization

Creates immediate to mid-range plans to carry out objectives established by top management. Schedules human and material resources within a group or section in conjunction with plans to ensure their availability; carries out operations within an established budget.

 

Impact

Assignments are expressed in the form of tasks and objectives; generally makes day-to-day decisions within established guidelines regarding work processes or schedules in order to achieve the program objectives established by senior management. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.  Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments would normally result in serious delays to assigned projects resulting in considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds.

 

Influence and Leadership

Promotes the attainment of group goals by selecting, motivating, and training capable staff. Provides leadership to assigned units by communicating and providing guidance towards achieving group objectives.

 

Liaison

Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, functional peer groups and/or customers. Interacts with various management levels concerning operations or scheduling of specific phases of projects or contracts. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific projects, operations or schedules. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others.
