About This Role:

As a Manufacturing Engineer Technician II, your primary mission is ensuring that equipment and processes used on the factory floor are performing as intended, with focus on equipment.  Your daily tasks are both reactive and proactive; responding to the needs of the floor as well as supporting manufacturing engineering initiatives.  The ME team works in concert with Quality and Production to ensure the factory achieves production goals (i.e., quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and safety) now and in the future.  ME initiatives include introduction of new product lines, introduction of new technologies, and modernization/upgrade of existing equipment.

 

With general supervisory direction, you will work as part of a cross-functional team on 2nd shift in the Core Tech Polymers (CTP) business unit and in concert with the engineering staff on day shift and counterpart technicians on 1st and 3rd shifts. 

 

CTP is a foundational component producer for the greater BSC network, providing extruded shafts and tubes for assembly into completed products at downstream partners locally and globally.  Equipment used on the CTP floor includes both off-the-shelf and custom-built extruders, puller/cutters, water baths, payoffs, take-ups, test equipment, and other ancillary equipment.

 

 

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Identify and troubleshoot process, material or equipment problems to minimize down time
  • Modify existing and develop new tooling and fixtures
  • Revise existing documents, processes, and/or methods to correct or improve processes/product
  • Work with vendors/suppliers to procure and install tooling, fixtures, and/or equipment
  • Assist in writing validation plans, executing plans and completing validation reports
  • Assist in Value Improvement (VIP) and Employee Involvement Team (EIT) projects, implementing new equipment or processes or improving existing ones for cost savings
  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis for process characterization, Cpk, and scrap reduction goals.
  • Work with Process Development to bring new products into production
  • Work with departmental customers to improve material quality and delivery
  • Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians

 

What We're Looking For In You:

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline
  • 3+ years of related experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read mechanical prints
  • Understanding of high and low voltage systems
  • Experience with measurement equipment (micrometers-tool scope – surfs)
  • Knowledge of metals
  • Machining experience
  • Extrusion experience
