Senior Firmware Engineer

 

About the role:

  • Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated R&D firmware engineer. The successful candidate will participate in the design and development of medical devices.
  • Be a part of Boston Scientific's PCI Guidance R&D team to develop innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world.  You will use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for innovation and continuous improvement to drive growth through efficient and effective development of new products.
     

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests firmware, device drivers applications using the C/C++ Programming language
  • Documents software development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards
  • Tracks software development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.
  • Solves engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, verifies requirements, software and systems by using software engineering practices.
  • Investigates, researches, selects software designs, operating systems and/or practices.
  • Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
  • Directs support personnel and project activities.
  • Mentors other engineers in hardware and software engineering activities/methodologies and domain knowledge.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of relevant work experience with BS
  • 3+ Years of relevant work experience with MS
  • 0-3 Years of relevant work experience with PhD
  • Experience in embedded system programming

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiences with the following:
    • Hand-on C/C++ development
    • Linux operating system, prefered Yocto development experience, RTOS experience is a plus
    • Developing software within the medical device industry (or comparable highly regulated environment)
    • Developing and maintaining real-time C/C++ applications, kernel modules
    • Familiar with Open Source development platform, github, gcc, make, shell-script
    • Familiar with using lab tools, such as oscilloscopes to debug application
    • Capable to help hardware designer to debug a customized board on compoments level and provide device drivers on final product
    • Capable to lead people or projects to deliver solution
