About the role:

 

Boston Scientific’s WATCHMAN franchise is on the cutting edge of driving digital innovation aimed at transforming how we engage and support our customers and patients. This Program Manager will have responsibility for digital initiatives (projects, prioritization, governance, etc.).  Initially this Program Manager will play an integral role in defining our governance strategy for our leading digital portfolio that includes apps, salesforce.com initiatives and other relevant digital programs for the LAAC franchise. This role will also lead digital programs as a program manager. This role will challenge your ability to work on complex projects where deadlines and scope shift frequently. You’ll need flexibility, agility and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in a highly cross-matrixed environment.

 

This individual should have experience in program management for software and digital products in the healthcare sector.  In addition, the individual should have experience navigating a cross-functional organization, possess a strong foundation in key technology platforms and have a demonstrated ability to work within an agile environment.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Develops and implements overall project plan, including major deliverables, milestones, cost, schedule, risk and performance, identification and resolution of staffing and resource requirements and issues, and monitors progress against business key objectives and goals.
  • Responsibilities include development, execution and leadership of a project/program team to successfully deliver the defined product/solution to business unit management. 
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with functional heads.
  • Scope of projects will vary and can include owning a program enhancement to help shape and drive governance of ongoing digital initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze and maintain financial forecast information using input from applicable sources.
  • Establish/apply quality objectives, criteria, standards and levels using appropriate quality management methods, with stakeholder input (e.g. key performance indicators, scope definition).
  • Develop, communicate and implement program/project risk/issue management plans and strategies (e.g. mitigation, avoidance, transfer, acceptance).
  • Act as lead to pull necessary internal resources together in order to provide appropriate and effective consultation and/or solution to address needs.
  • May manage vendor and service providers to define project scope and performance expectations.
  • Set the governance structure, strategy and cadence to ensure the right level of accountability and governance.
  • Partner with the cross-functional team to identify applicable metrics to influence digital investment and strategy.
  • People Management: Lead and help diverse and dispersed cross-functional teams (Research & Development, Design Assurance, Regulatory, Process Development, Clinical, Marketing, Sales Ops) to manage multiple projects from small to large scope.
  • Product/Technology Management: Partners with technical product owner to manage the technical challenges of technology application and new product development; identifies, communicates, and manages moderate to high levels of technical risk.
  • Project/Program Management: Manages key initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing processes; develops and implements project plan; builds team ownership and commitment to project plan; mentors and/or coaches other functional and project managers; manages project risks.
  • Communications and Reviews: Responsible for team and cross-functional communications; liaison between the team and the Franchise Leadership Team; leads phase and business reviews, project meeting minutes, issues log, metrics, and other key communications.  Communicates and influences resolution of cross-functional issues.

 

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Engineering or Project Management.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a complex matrixed work environment with competing priorities.
  • Experience in software or digital product development required.
  • Experience with agile methodologies for software development.
  • Ideally experience in commercializing cloud-based software solutions into hospital setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data-driven decision making.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that can operate independently with little direction.
  • Proven track record of project managing digital strategies and high caliber teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to gain acceptance for ideas, plans, actions and then implement across organizational boundaries.
  • Candidate to have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships within project teams. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel ~10% of the time.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification.
  • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) 
  • PLCP lifecycle knowledge.
