About the role:

The Scientist II Center for Biological Innovation (CBI) is a BSC Center of Excellence that utilizes in vitro and ex vivo approaches, such as biochemical, cell-based, microbial, and tissue-based assays to support the design, development and commercialization of BSC products.  The successful Scientist II candidate should have appropriate scientific experience to provide the technical support required for planning, conduct, analysis, and reporting of in vitro biomedical research studies.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the planning, conduct, analysis, reporting and archive of in vitro biomedical research studies following standardized company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Supports the development of customized in vitro assays
  • Interacts and collaborates with Scientists, Principal Scientists, and Fellows during the design, conduct, analysis, presentation and reporting of studies.
  • May design/document experiments/protocols of limited complexity to align with project goals with support from senior technical staff; executes independently within functional area.
  • Completes complex data analysis; identifies and proposes solutions to problematic data; solves basic issues independently at an appropriate level; compares results with historical data.
  • Summarizes results, generates technical reports, completes experimental paperwork/lab notebook documentation, and may peer review experimental documentation.
  • Participates as an extended team member primarily for experimental execution and secondarily as a scientific consultant for projects of limited complexity.
  • Performs multiple experimental techniques and processes within the Center for Biological Innovation

 

What we're looking for in you:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Recent (0-2 years) PhD in cell biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • 1+ years experience in cardiovascular physiology, hemocompatibility testing and/or tissue engineering highly desirable
  • Experience in cell culture and cell-based assay development
  • Experience conducting standard biochemical and enzymatic assays
  • Experience with immunostaining and microscopy techniques
  • Ability to design and troubleshoot technical assays and protocols
