About the Role:    

The EIS Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction & managing a team that:

  • Assembles, summarizes, and presents facts/research to serve the information needs across all of BSC’s BUs
  • Provides expert research support across clinical, technical and business functions
  • Develops & promotes a self-service model to increase research efficiency

Your deep of relevant information sources and practical, cost-effective research/search techniques coupled with a high-degree of strategic thinking & project management capabilities will help drive BSC’s EIS to new levels.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Establishes vision and leads strategic planning for BSC’s EIS team.
  • Manages team of Librarians, with a focus on business impact, increasing efficiency/effectiveness, and professional development
  • Engage & support key internal stakeholders to ensure EIS team addresses relevant needs in a timely manner
  • Manage the department budget & vendor relationships including vendor subscription management, invoicing & accruals (in partnership with Finance), and contract negotiations (in partnership with GBS).
  • Identify & drive improvements to EIS processes, technology, capabilities, & service culture; including the continued shift towards self-service & virtual platforms.
  • Increase awareness of the EIS via proactive outreach, partnerships, training, etc.
  • Execute research projects and serve as a player-coach.


What we’re looking for:

  • MLIS/MLS degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare (medical device, pharma, biotech) or other corporate environment (marketing, advertising, etc).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-pace environment; ability to prioritize with demonstrated ability to lead key initiatives
  • Excellent people skills, strong team orientation to work across geographies, and professional attitude to allow agile and proactive responses to changing business demands and opportunities
  • Strong proficiency of relevant secondary research tools and information retrieval techniques (Embase, Factiva, Inspec, MEDLINE, Profound, Proquest Dialog, PubMed, STN, Thomson ONE)
  • Minimal travel associated with role
