Logistics Traffic Specialist II


About the role:

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the daily engagements and oversight of BSC’s freight audit and payment process. This requires the management of third party freight audit service providers which process and audit domestic and international freight invoices for the Global transportation network. This position is the main liaison to coordinate payment with BSC internal Accounts Payables organization facilitating the execution of funds transfer to service providers.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct Interaction with freight carriers (domestic and international) and third-party audit companies to resolve billing inquiries, errors and/or process issues.
  • Assists in negotiating, awarding, administering and reviewing service agreements with carriers, freight audit and transportation suppliers with management.
  • Conducts research on transportation methods and rates and. Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of shipping routes.
  • Investigates and resolves accounting issues relating to freight bill payment and auditing of freight bills.
  • Conducts analysis of alternate methods of transportation and programs, along with projected cost and service improvements.
  • Assists in developing long-term logistics strategies.  Responsible for analyzing current logistical capabilities and recommending future logistical strategies based on businss needs.
  • Provides traffic advice and assistance, and consults with BSC plants, DCs and suppliers to ensure efficiency of time and costs (i.e., recommending and selecting carriers).
  • Negotiates with transportation and freight audit vendors to obtain the best service and price for contract and individual shipments when necessary.
  • Develops schedule with service providers by conducting periodic reviews of vendors' service in order to ensure quality service and to resolve any problems.
  • Performs analysis, identifies root cause, and recommends corrective action utilizing transportation carrier and related information.
  • Collects data and analyzes it to identify efficiencies and inefficiencies developing cost-reduction plans.
  • Responsible for compiling monthly and yearly freight accruals.


What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • AS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in transportation freight pay or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to work aggressively to complete projects.


Preferred Qualifications

  • BS College degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2 years of transportation freight pay or operation experience.
  • Transportation background within the Healthcare industry.
