About the role:

Boston Scientific believes that to grow our business, we must grow our people.  With that in mind, the Talent Management Manager role works with HRBP’s and Business Leaders to ensure talent & organizational development efforts are aligned to business goals, are designed for maximum business impact and are flawlessly executed across client groups. The role consults and provides execution support on initiatives focused on all areas of development (70/20/10), organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and change management. 


The role is based in our corporate HQ in Marlborough, MA and provides Talent Management support to the Corporate Functions which comprise of Finance, Clinical, Legal & HR.  The composition of this client group consists mainly of professionally graded employees with a high number of executives.  Each function is going through a period of significant transformation which requires a high-level of strategic talent management support.  The position will report into Director, Talent Management & Global Talent Acquisition with a strong dotted-line to VP, Corporate Functions HRBP.


Your responsibilties include: 

  • Partner closely with Corporate Functions HR leadership to identify and prioritize talent management needs of the client.  Use data and other assessment techniques to diagnose to root causes and identify potential improvement opportunities.
  • Design & develop high-impact solutions which address these talent needs.  Adopt a creative approach in developing these solutions.
  • Manage the program delivery and execution of talent initiatives.  Influence across the HR matrix to obtain the needed help and support, and work with external vendors as required to execute on deliverables.
  • Ensure robust measurement of talent initiatives are in places, evaluating both activity and business impact.
  • Lead implementation of corporate TM programs with assigned client group
  • Partner with HR & Business Leaders to identify and develop a strong & diverse leadership pipeline.
  • Partner with HR & Business Leaders to plan & execute succession planning efforts and accelerate the development of HIPOs through on-the-job learning experiences (job rotations, stretch assignments, job enlargement, job shadowing, etc.) as well as coaching, mentoring, sponsorships, networking, etc.
  • Manage communications and branding of development efforts/initiatives.
  • Partner and consult with HR & Business Leaders on change initiatives, providing subject matter expertise in change management strategies, tools, and resources.
  • Partner with HR & Business leaders on employee engagement initiatives within the business
  • Partner with HR & Business leaders on organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • From time-to-time, play a facilitator role in the delivery of corporate training programs
  • As requested, be a team member on Global Talent Management projects, contributing to the design of corporate initiatives and from time-to-time, being a facilitator on corporate development programs.


What we're looking for: 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7-9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Advanced degree or certification in Organization Development (or similar field) a strong preference
  • Certification in various talent instruments (MBTI, Hogan, DISC etc.) and coaching is also desirable


Preferred Qualifications

  • Acceleration of High Potential Talent.  Been involved in the design, facilitation and follow-up of succession planning or talent review meetings.
  • Contracting and consulting with a client group.  Ability to build close working relationships, understand their needs, effectively set expectations and agree on a clear set of objectives.
  • Organization Analysis & Diagnosis.  Able to use qualitative and quantitative data to assess talent needs & opportunities.  Includes experience of learning needs assessment.
  • Talent program design.  Previous experience of designing new programs and customized interventions, creating original content as well as partnering with external vendors.
  • Solution Delivery/Implementation.  Strong project and program management skills.  Ability to work within a matrix organization to influence others and hold them accountable for their deliverables.
  • Measurement of talent initiatives – previous experience of designing metrics, using dashboards/scorecards etc.
  • Change Management – advising leaders on change management considerations, strategies and tactical activities.
