About the role:

The Process Development Manager I will lead a group of Process Development Engineers and Technicians in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for new disposable medical devices.  Serve as primary contact and lead person on all divisional New Product Development projects manufactured in the Spencer facility. Coordinate with R&D and Marketing to plan upcoming projects and manage current projects. This role has a large degree of people management, development and resource allocation through world class project management discipline and execution.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • As projects require, perform product development and design activities, with at a minimum input to product design to insure manufacturability using DFM principles. Along with directing/mentoring PE group, this role also includes hands-on project work for some projects.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing team (operations, engineering & quality) to ensure smooth transition and implementation of development and launch activities.
  • All work will be performed as part of a matrix product development team. As individual projects require, this role will be leading project teams or leading Spencer team members as a Site Leader. Excellent communications skills are required at all levels, both up and down the chain of command.
  • Must comply with requirements of ISO 14001 and BSC Environmental, Health and Safety standards and follow procedures and instructions related to these standards
  • Influences, guides, and manages internal/external resources to achieve critical program goals.
  • Coaches others in the appropriate application of product/process development and design related activities and standards.
  • Aligns resources and assures cross-divisional support identify opportunities for improvement within the existing processes & systems.
  • Drives quality product development and product transfer projects having expertise with design control regulations of major magnitude and scope.
  • Provides significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
  • Develops and monitors department budgets.
  • Determines appropriate staff levels, schedules and resources.
  • Coordinates sessions with the project managers/core team leaders to look for opportunities for staff to learn about new initiatives or volunteer on new projects.
  • Drives the development of department tools and methodologies.
  • Determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and deliverables.
  • Establishes cross-functional team relationships.
  • Provides an overview of the function and role of his/her group, technical skill sets, to other groups and/or divisions.
  • Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical and project issues.
  • Drives and evaluates project and department progress and results
  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the area they support. Ensure employees are trained to do their work and their training is documented.

     

What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Previous people management or supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated used of tools/methodologies including  SPC, DOE, GR&R, FMEA, process validation (IQ, OQ,PQ) and FDA, ISO/MDD standards. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work within a team environment.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated track record in people development.
  • Project Management skills to ensure resource planning and schedule accuracy/optimization.
  • Prior product development and launch experience.

  • Project Management Certification
