About the role:

Provide expert material science support for new and existing products.  Mitigate technical and budgetary risks.  Conduct and supervise a broad range of experiments from discovery to formal verification/validation testing.  Utilize expert experimental methods and statistical techniques.

Note: Primary function is to support technical and non-technical RD responsibilities for EU MDR activities including material assessment of activities.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Successfully completes complex engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigation (animal and clinical studies), and report preparation.
  • Establishes and maintains development efforts with leading research universities as required.
  • Meet with global thought leaders in discipline or technology.  Study and understand relevant published articles and works for application to company projects and initiatives.
  • Selects techniques to solve complex problems and make sound design recommendations.
  • Summarizes, analyzes and draws conclusions from complex test results.
  • Designs and prepares complex reports to communicate results to technical community.
  • Designs and coordinates complex engineering tests and experiments.
  • Coordinates, manages and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.
  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products or equipment.
  • Translates customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
  • Responsible for engineering documentation.
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.
  • May train and/or provide work direction to technicians and entry-level engineers.
  • Demonstrates PDP/TPD system knowledge through delivery of high quality and high impact deliverables.
  • Consistently generates innovative and unique solutions to market needs and submits idea disclosures.  Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined products, processes or equipment.

 

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications

  • Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials Engineering preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 3+ years of related work experience.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to communicate technically complex concepts/items in a simple manner are a must.
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation is critical.
  • Individual must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results.
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, DOE previous experience in designing assemblies or components.
  • Previous experience in working with suppliers is a plus.
