About the role:

The Associate Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Director is responsible for leading, managing, and supporting the analytics Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) team at Boston Scientific (BSC) through leading data-driven initiatives to support strategic decision-making.  The HEOR HEMA team executes complex data analyses to support global value messaging to support market access for BSC products and therapies.  The Associate HEOR Director is an exceptional analytic leader who has direct reports and serves as a mentor and technical advisor to other members of the HEOR team and has muti-divisional and cross-functional influence, but also supports the team through hands-on technical execution when needed. This role offers a hybrid work schedule approximately three days per week and can be based out of our office in Arden Hills, MN or Marlborough, MA.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage a team of approximately five experienced analysts to successfully deliver on time and high quality HEOR analysis in a digestible format to the key stakeholder. 
  • Partner with the HEMA team to identify and prioritize HEOR analytic projects based on the impact of the work to support global value messaging to support market access for BSC products and therapies.  Build collaborative parnerships with cross-functional teams to define analytical objectives, identify data sources, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Lead and oversee the execution of data analyses related to healthcare, including but not limited to descripritve analysis, advanced analysis, margin analysis, excel-model based calculators, risk adjustment, and predictive modeling.  Develop and implement analytic plans, selecting appropriate statistical methodologies and leveraging statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SAS, Python) to conduct analyses and interpret results.
  • Advance HEOR analytic materials to ensure stakeholder understanding and usability.  Author and review technical documentation, reports, and presentations to effectively communicate analytical findings and insights.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.  Provide mentorship and guidance to analysts, supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in data analysis techniques to drive innovation and excellence in data-driven decision-making.
  • Serve as an analytical expert and provide HEOR-related training including data analysis techniques, best practices, and interpretation of results to sales, marketing, clinical, regulatory, and legal to increase awareness and understanding of HEOR competency and its role in supporting market adoption of products and therapies.

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Formal training in mathematics, economics, pharmacoeconomics/pharmaceutical economics, public health, health services research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related discipline (Masters’ degree, PhD, PharmD, MD, or related fields of study).
  • 10+ years relevant experience in healthcare data analysis, preferably within medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology.
  • Proven leadership and people management, with a strong ability to develop and inspire others.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and convey technical information to diverse audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively project plans, timelines, and dependencies. 
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex healthcare data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, STATA, or Python, with a strong understanding of data manipulation, regression analysis, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Knowledgeable about healthcare databases, including administrative claims databases (i.e., Medicare, commercial data), chargemaster data, and coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, HCPCS).
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions independently and to work in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 12+ years relevant experience in healthcare data analysis, preferably within medical device, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology.
  • Demonstrated success in a consulting role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
