About the role: 
The Buyer/Planner is essential to the Pathology Laboratory operations. This position is responsible for planning, co-ordination & reporting for all of the Inventory issues. Develop and monitor a strong Inventory control policy. Ensure Inventory activities are a key driver of quality, cost efficiency and current best practice within the organization/industry.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluates and selects suppliers based upon assessment of their quality system and capabilities. Manages the implementation of suppliers (including ensuring the completion of appropriate first articles and validations).
  • Performs initial and ongoing audits of potential and current suppliers based upon ISO15189 guidelines and College of American Pathologist (CAP) Quality System Requirements.
  • Manages component supply and inventory levels for laboratory, planning and purchasing for material requirements and ensuring flow of materials to the laboratory.
  • Monitors and control inventory days on hand and order accuracy. 
  • Track and manage supplier delivery and quality requirements.
  • General Inventory Reporting: i.e. Cycle-counting, Inventory turns, when necessary. 
  • Works internally with Accounts Payable and Receiving to resolve discrepancies in receipts and invoices. 
  • Works with Laboratory and Quality to source and recommend suppliers to ensure that supplied orders are an appropriate price, delivery, and quality.
  • Inputs required purchase orders/requisitions in SAP, Ariba/Mybuy, as needed.
  • Understands and communicates component specifications to suppliers, including the ability to read drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) points.
  • Develops and enhances relationships with strategic supplier/partners. Serves as primary contact and fosters positive and mutually beneficial relationship with suppliers.
  • Coordinates early supplier involvement in product development and purchases the required materials to support product development and product launches.
  • Actively works and supports the development of new technologies and supplier capabilities.
  • Supports product development goals in the components, materials and supplier’s area.
  • Drives cost savings and quality improvement projects.

 

What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Minimum of 3 years of buying/purchasing experience, preferably in a laboratory environment 
  • Collaborative, organized, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of leadership
  • Experience with inventory and planning management preferably within materials management vs supply chain 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP knowledge
  • Pathology Laboratory Industry Experience
  • If you do not have a bachelor’s degree, applicants working towards a degree are preferred
