About the role:
The Customer Billing Coordinator II is responsible for resolving billing matters and coordinate with patients, company sales ambulatory surgery and healthcare facilities representatives, and insurance carriers to handle a variety of pre-sales and post-sales service functions.  The incumbent will gather and maintain patient information and facilitate communication between insurers, clinics and patients to expedite the exchange of required information.  The incumbent is also expected to complete routine assignments and exercise good judgment when adjustments to accepted practices become necessary.
 

In this role you will: 

  • Process billing statements and adjustments; collaborate with billing lead or supervisor to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
  • Manage inquiries from insurance carriers, patients, and providers; obtain authorization numbers from medical centers or insurance carriers when applicable
  • Build and maintain a relationship with insurance carriers and clinic; work with clinics' billing staff to obtain necessary information to process claims
  • Analyze and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms to ensure insurance carriers have remitted payments
  • Follow up on insurance claims, denials, clearinghouse rejections, exceptions or exclusions in a timely manner
  • Facilitate the appeal process and complete required letters and/or forms to receive insurance payments
  • Work with insurance carriers to address eligibility and claim denials; recognize claim denial trends and establish a process to receive insurance payments in a timely manner
  • Conduct research using the "No Activity Report" to obtain claim statuses and determine why insurance companies are delayed in their responses to claims 
  • Ensure claims are complete and correct prior to submission; submit corrected claims for diagnosis codes and modifier changes
  • Review billing statements with patients and negotiate payment plans or discounts as necessary; work with team members and/or supervisor to manage complex accounts
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including special projects

What we are looking for...

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with 2+ years of billing and collections experience in the healthcare setting
  • Customer service oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve billing issues 
  • Process oriented and results-driven with a high-level of accountability and integrity 
  • Detail oriented to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the pathology field
  • Experience with multi-state billing
