About the role:
Boston Scientific is searching for an Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager to join our operations team and advance the company’s EH&S mission to create a safer, healthier future. This role is based at our Johns Creek, GA manufacturing and distribution site.

With general guidance from site and functional leadership, the EH&S Manager is responsible for setting the direction for and reinforcing the importance of EH&S at the site. This role manages EH&S Management Systems and compliance programs, including development and implementation of strategies, policies, and practices. The EH&S Manager partners with site leadership to integrate EH&S performance into operations, and brings Boston Scientific’s Core Values to life by fostering a culture of caring, reducing risk, and advancing environmental sustainability. This position provides leadership to drive continuous improvement in EH&S performance while assuring comprehensive operational compliance.

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to work at our Johns Creek, GA location.

Your responsibilities will include:
● Develop, maintain, and review EH&S Management Systems to ensure compliance with current and future EH&S legal and regulatory requirements, as well as Boston Scientific Global EH&S Standards and strategic objectives.

● Lead the ongoing implementation and sustainment of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certifications.

● Manage strategic reviews of EH&S Management System elements, providing appropriate objectives and programs to improve and sustain EH&S performance.

● Lead management review meetings to present EH&S performance, address upcoming improvement actions, and proactively manage issues affecting operations or offering strategic advantages.

● Establish and track EH&S performance metrics aligned with corporate and site strategic objectives.

● Develop and execute plans to reduce employee injury and lost time rates.

● Build and maintain an appropriate EH&S culture through process integration, training, communication, and employee engagement.

● Prioritize and manage the implementation of environmental compliance and site sustainability programs.

● Manage all EH&S regulatory reporting requirements.

● Serve as the site lead for emergency planning and response. Ensure that adequate evacuation and response procedures are in place, including training for all applicable employee roles.

● Represent Boston Scientific in EH&S matters with external agencies and ensure appropriate responses to all regulatory and legal issues.

● Collaborate with other Boston Scientific EH&S professionals to align with industry best practices.

● Develop and maintain an EH&S staffing plan that supports implementation and improvement of the site’s EH&S Management Systems.

● Hire, coach, and develop direct reports through training, assignments, performance reviews, and progressive discipline as appropriate.

● Oversee externally contracted EH&S service providers to ensure compliance with Boston Scientific policies and performance standards.

 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline

● 8 to 12 years of total professional experience, including

● 3 to 5+ years of people management experience, ideally in a functional leadership role within EH&S

● Experience developing and/or sustaining ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 Management Systems

● Working knowledge of EH&S regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, EPCRA, RCRA)

● Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence and drive cross-functional EH&S performance

● Experience coaching and developing direct reports

● Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization

● Thorough understanding of best-in-class EH&S management practices

Preferred qualifications:
● Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation

● Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industries

● Experience working within a Quality Management System-controlled manufacturing environment

● Familiarity with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems

● Project management certification and/or experience

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
