Join the Materials Management team at Boston Scientific in Arden Hills, MN as a Buyer in our Purchasing department! Boston Scientific is a medical device manufacturer delivering millions of medical solutions annually across the globe. Arden Hills produces both sterilized finished goods and sub-assemblies supporting the plant network, providing many unique challenges for Materials Management. Materials Management includes production planning, direct purchasing, and material handling, which all interact frequently with production. About This Role:

 

The Buyer II is responsible for supporting new product or acquisition integration teams by creating and monitoring build plans, procuring raw materials, OEM parts, tooling and services in enough quantities to enable project team to achieve objectives for new product commercialization & integration.

 

Your Responsibilities Include:
 

  • Materials Administration: Generates, adjusts and expedites purchase orders based on MRP (material requirements planning) along with pertinent information being used to run the business, i.e. schedule adherence, S&OP, etc.; Generates buy action based on authorized spending amount; Coordinates with the Planning Team to maintain optimal inventory levels and determine the proper priorities for material support; Tracks and monitors purchase orders, keeping informed of any problems/delays and communicates any impacts/constraints to the Planner(s), manufacturing manager/supervisor or engineering discipline impacted by the change; Supports material needs for the product development process to ensure BSC’s competitive first-to-market strategy; Coordinates subcontracted materials; Generates on-going cost savings through the Value Improvement Process
     
  • Supplier Management: Monitors and communicates quality and delivery performance to the supplier and Global Sourcing Team; Responsible to resolve supplier related problems (works closely with vendors to assure a positive and professional relationship always establishing and maintaining open lines of communication); Controls assets at suppliers, disposing of obsolete assets and monitoring the age of others.
     
  • Total Quality: Adheres to CGMP and FDA requirements; Reviews and approves all raw material document change orders; Maintains accurate purchasing master data, AVL, info record, etc.; Interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning and Quality to ensure timely throughput and proper prioritization of materials received.
     
  • Inventory Management: Typically manages moderate to high complexity commodities and expense items; Formulates purchasing decisions to achieve 100% internal customer service, targeted inventory safety stock and least total cost material procurement; Identifies expired, excess and obsolete materials and dispositions the material appropriately.
     
  • Planning Management: Analyze and communicate supply chain performance and diagnose key improvement areas (e.g., forecast accuracy, supply variability, Inventory DIOH, service level, backorder, EE&O etc.). Support the monthly Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SI&OP) processes to ensure uniform adoption across the divisional supply chain planning groups. Support process adherence and master data accuracy for demand planning, replenishment and inventory planning and optimization (MEIO) within the scope of SI&OP leveraging the Kinaxis – Rapid Response solution, a recognized leader in supply chain planning software.

 

What We're Looking For:
 
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of buying/purchasing experience, preferrably in a manufacturing environment 
  • Collaborative, organized, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of leadership
  • Experience with inventory and planning management preferrably within materials management vs supply chain 


Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP and Rapid Response knowledge preferred
  • Medical Device Industry Experience preferred
