About the role:
Join the Materials Management team at Boston Scientific in Arden Hills, MN as a Buyer/Planner II on our Purchasing team. Boston Scientific is a medical device manufacturer delivering millions of medical solutions annually across the globe. Arden Hills produces both sterilized finished goods and sub-assemblies assisting the plant network while providing many unique challenges for Materials Management. This role is responsible for assisting new product or acquisition integration teams by creating and monitoring build plans, managing raw materials, OEM parts, tooling, and services in enough quantities to enable project teams to achieve objectives for new product commercialization & integration. This is a hybrid role based in Arden Hills, MN.


Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Generates, adjusts, and expedites purchase orders based on MRP (material requirements planning) along with pertinent information i.e., schedule adherence, SI&OP, etc.
  • Generates buy action based on authorized spending amount.
  • Responsible for full integration of purchasing and supply planning setup into our sustaining processes through commercialization.
  • Collaborates with the Project Management to maintain optimal inventory levels and find the proper priorities from product concept phase to commercialization.
  • Tracks and monitors purchase orders, keeping core team informed of any problems/delays and advertises any impacts/constraints .
  • Works closely with vendors and internal production teams to assure a positive and professional relationship with the responsibility to resolve any problems.
  • Controls assets at suppliers, disposing of obsolete assets and monitoring the age of others.
  • Reviews and approves all material document change orders.
  • Maintains accurate purchasing and planning master data, AVL, info record, etc.
  • Interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning and Quality to ensure timely throughput and proper prioritization of materials.
  • Participate on PDP (Product Development Process) Teams by fulfilling PDP deliverables for Materials Management including presenting to Site Leadership.
  • Manages moderate to high complexity commodities and expense items.
  • Formulates purchasing and planning decisions to achieve 100% internal customer service, targeted inventory safety stock and least total cost material procurement.
  • Identifies expired, excess, and obsolete materials and dispositions the material appropriately.
  • Analyzes and informs supply chain performance and diagnose key improvement areas (e.g., forecast accuracy, supply variability, Inventory DIOH, service level, backorder, EE&O etc.).
  • Supports the monthly Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SI&OP) processes to ensure uniform adoption across the divisional supply chain planning groups.
  • Supports process adherence and master data accuracy for demand planning, replenishment and inventory planning, and optimization leveraging Kinaxis – Rapid Response.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field)
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, inventory management or planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment 
  • Experience working in Excel and SAP/Rapid Response (or comparable ERP) system

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization as well as with external vendors

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with Advanced Planning & Scheduling System (Kinaxis Rapid Response, Logility, Anaplan, Oracle Fusion)
  • Experience with New Product Integrations/Acquisitions
