About the Role
As the Global Associate Director of Product Stewardship, you will set the strategic direction for Boston Scientific’s global Product Stewardship function. You will lead enterprise-wide programs and policies that integrate product stewardship requirements into product development, manufacturing, distribution, and sustainability initiatives. This role has significant influence across functions, geographies, and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance, advancing innovation, and positioning Boston Scientific as an industry leader in environmental responsibility.
This position requires strategic leadership, global stakeholder management, and the ability to drive enterprise-wide initiatives that balance compliance, business priorities, and sustainability objectives.
Work Mode
Hybrid: This role requires employees to be in one of our Boston Scientific locations in the US, Ireland, Canada, or Costa Rica offices at least 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement Boston Scientific’s global product stewardship vision, strategy, and policies.
- Partner with executive leadership and global business units to align stewardship initiatives with corporate priorities.
- Influence industry standards and represent BSC with regulatory bodies, trade associations, and global stakeholders.
- Program Oversight
- Lead enterprise-wide compliance programs covering REACH, RoHS, POPs, CA Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, EPR (WEEE, Battery, Packaging), and other emerging requirements.
- Anticipate and evaluate emerging global regulations, translating them into strategies that mitigate risk and create business value.
- Establish governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting processes to ensure organizational accountability.
- Cross-Functional & Global Engagement
- Build and lead cross-functional teams across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Marketing to embed stewardship principles into new product development and sustaining efforts.
- Develop and mentor a global network of product stewardship leaders, ensuring capability and succession planning.
- Drive organizational alignment and resource prioritization to deliver against enterprise objectives.
- Innovation & Improvement
- Champion continuous improvement in product stewardship practices, enabling both compliance and competitive differentiation.
- Guide enterprise adoption of sustainable product design, packaging, and end-of-life solutions.
- Lead global change management efforts to enhance product stewardship culture across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 12+ years of Product Stewardship, Regulatory, R&D, Sustainability or Operations experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
- 7+ years of people leadership, including developing and managing global teams.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide compliance and sustainability programs.
- Strong business acumen and strategic influence skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a complex, matrixed global organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced technical degree.
- Experience shaping industry-wide standards or representing companies at regulatory/industry forums.
