About This Role

Industrial Engineers take on an integral role at Boston Scientific by driving and implementing continuous improvement throughout the business. The department works cross-functionally across the plant to eliminate waste and improve product, material and information flow through production, new process development and business processes. 


Responsibilities:

Someone in this role would require limited mentorship throughout project work to ensure consistent understanding and application of Lean on our manufacturing lines and in business processes. An ideal candidate would have some experience (2+ years) with the items listed below:

  • Facilitate production and business process kaizen events to improve quality, cost, delivery, and safety
  • Responsible for understanding, leveraging, sustaining, and improving the following Lean principles, tools and systems; Work Content Graph (line balancing), Standard Work, Standard WIP, Visual Staffing Plan, Variation Tracking, Equipment Capacity, 5S, 8 Wastes, Continuous Improvement System and Kaizen.
  • Lead cross functional projects requiring problem solving or process improvement roadmaps and tools
  • Coordinate and lead facility layout and workstation design projects to reduce work content, improve line or business unit flow and optimize space requirements for equipment and people
  • Apply knowledge of product design, production and business processes to proactively identify improvement opportunities across the business unit
  • Coach lean culture and operational excellence principles across site, including the following Principles; Go See, Create Pull & Flow, Build in Quality, Focus on Process, Align to Strategy, Place Customers First, Engage People, and Engage Value Improvement.
  • Responsible for effectively managing multiple priorities
  • Responsible for establishes and/or updating labor standards for product costing annually
  • Responsible for identifying and capturing the value of projects in our Value Improvement Process (VIP).
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching others regarding concepts relevant to Industrial Engineering and Lean. Effectively facilitates Lean training.
  • Continually build and apply technical knowledge discovered through benchmarking and continuing education opportunities

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Engineering degree required
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related role
  • Demonstrated success with Lean tools, methodologies, and continuous improvement required
  • Proficient user AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to solve large scale complex problems through robust data analysis
  • Ability to lead a large cross functional team toward a shared vision
  • Ability to mentor and coach others
