About the role:

Our team in Maple Grove, MN is searching for an Industrial Engineer II to join our team. Industrial Engineers at Boston Scientific support the advancement of lean and continuous improvement by identifying and implementing innovative solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for our customers. The department works cross-functionally across the plant to eliminate waste and improve product, material and information flow through production, new product development and business processes.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Include: 

  • Understand, leverage, sustain, and improve the following: Work Content Graph (line balancing), Standard Work, Standard WIP, Visual Staffing Plan, Variation Tracking, Equipment Capacity, 5S, 8 Wastes, Value Stream Mapping, Flow and Pull, Continuous Improvement Systems and Kaizens
  • Drive improvement and problem-solving projects impacting customers, manufacturing lines, and support functions by applying DMAIC or PDCA leading to Value Improvement Process (VIP) savings
  • Establish engineering (labor) standards for product costing, as well as projects to drive year-over-year labor improvement.
  • Perform time studies and data analysis to properly balance work content and staffing of manufacturing lines. 
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional workstation and line design projects to reduce work content, improve line flow and optimize space / line layout requirements for equipment and people.
  • Facilitate production and business process kaizen events to improve quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
  • Facilitate lean training and mentoring of Lean concepts for employees at all levels.
  • Promote lean culture and operational excellence principles across the site.
  • Continually build and apply technical knowledge discovered through benchmarking and continuing education opportunities.
  • Demonstrate ideal behaviors that are consistent and supportive of BSC Values.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, or similar
  • 2+ years of experience as an engineer
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Lean Principles, Systems, and Tools
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing, or similar
  • Experience applying Lean Principles, Systems, and Tools
  • Simulation software experience (Arena, Simulate, FlexSim, etc.)
  • Experience with Power BI/Tableau 
  • Shingo Model understanding and application experience 
  • Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification(s)
  • Experience moving or re-laying out a manufacturing line larger than 2,000 sq ft.
