About the role:
As an Industrial Engineer in the Boston Scientific Brooklyn Park Distribution Center you will be responsible for optimizing processes to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality distribution of medical equipment. This includes developing performance metrics, optimizing product flow, and driving a culture of continuous improvement to improve productivity and reduce costs while adhering to regulatory standards. This role will be on-site and contribute to the seamless flow of vital medical supplies, ultimately aiding in the delivery of life-saving healthcare services. 

 

This role requires an onsite work mode from our Brooklyn Park location. Relocation assistance is not available for this position and Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment VISA for this position at this time. 
 
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive continuous improvement projects within the Distribution Center to completion utilizing project management methodologies, such as DMAIC, to ensure timelines, budgets, and objectives are met
  • Develop headcount planning and volume capacity models based on engineering standard times to ensure efficient staffing and optimized resources
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to design and implement automation solutions, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and reduce manual labor
  • Own and analyze operational Core Metrics. Conduct root cause analysis when poor performance occurs and implement corrective actions to address inefficiencies and quality issues
  • Work with process SMEs to develop work standards that reduce variation and increase productivity. Conduct time studies for these processes to develop labor models for effective resource planning
  • Foster a Continuous Improvement culture by conducting regular training sessions, workshops, and coaching sessions for staff at all levels to encourage participation and engagement
  • Lead and facilitate Lean Tool implementation initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen events, and Kanban systems to streamline operations and eliminate waste
  • Provide leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment focused on continuous learning and development

 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or related Engineering field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in a distribution setting 
  • 2+ years of experience implementing Lean methodologies and tools such as 5S, Kaizen workshops, Standard Work, and Kanban systems to drive process improvements 
  • 1+ year of experience with project management methodologies and leading cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives within established timelines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive decision-making and identify areas for improvement
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

 
Preferred qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, or relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Certification. 
  • Proficiency in data modeling and analysis tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, or related software, with experience in data manipulation, visualization, and predictive analytics to drive data-driven decision-making and identify actionable insights for process optimization.
  • Extensive experience in training and facilitation, with a proven ability to lead workshops, coaching sessions, and training programs on Lean methodologies and process improvement techniques.
  • Track record of successfully managing large-scale, high-cost-saving process improvement projects from inception to completion, with demonstrated results in achieving significant cost savings, operational efficiency improvements, and quality enhancements.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably within the medical device or healthcare sector, with knowledge of Med Device regulatory requirements and quality standards

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
