Instructional Designer III 

About the role:  
 

At Boston Scientific, we are looking for a dynamic, results-driven Instructional Designer to actively assist with the development and execution of innovative training programs within our Capital Equipment Technical Services department. This individual develops and conducts product training and education programs for both company personnel and that support area and company goals.  Monitors and evaluates employee product training needs to ensure the ongoing development of employees' ability to meet customer and product technology demands of the company. 

 
The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in curriculum design, training execution and measurement of outcomes. Has strong proficiency with learning technology platforms all while taking a continuous improvement approach to existing training assets and content and measuring the effectiveness and success against pre-determined objectives. 

 
This is a hybrid role and will require 3 days a week onsite at our Arden Hills, MN site. 

 
Your Responsibilities Include: 

  • Conduct needs assessments and partner with stakeholders to identify learning objectives, performance gaps, and success metrics 

  • Design, develop, and maintain engaging instructor-led, virtual, and eLearning training programs aligned to business and technical requirements 

  • Translate complex technical or operational content into clear, learner-centered training materials and experiences  

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to recommend effective learning strategies 

  • Develop a variety of learning assets including facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, videos, simulations, and assessments  

  • Facilitate instructor-led training sessions (in-person and virtual) to support program delivery, onboarding, and critical skill development  

  • Develop training standards, measurement tools, and evaluation methods to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement 

  • Support global training initiatives by ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment across regions or teams 

  • Contribute to training strategy development, including standardization, governance, and process optimization 

  • Support learning design processes required to meet Quality System, compliance, and legal requirements 

  • Write clear, compliant training plans that support program objectives and execution 

What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, learning & development, technical writing, or related discipline. 

  • Experience with virtual classroom technologies 

  • Experience with instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills 

  • Proven capability to understand and effectively apply technical concepts. 

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project plans and deliver on specific timelines. 

  • Experience in eLearning / digital authoring tools 

  • Results-oriented team player  

  • Excel in a fast-paced environment 

Preferred Qualification: 

  • Demonstrated ability to determine and set direction, holding partners accountable. 

  • Medical device, technical, service, or engineering training experience 

  • Experience in blended learning journey design creation 

  • Experience facilitating training 

  • Data-driven evaluation and learning analytics experience 

  • Global training experience 

  • Project management experience 

  • Ability to develop training strategy recommendations, not just create content

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
