About the Role:
The Investigation Build Tech will perform a variety of routine tasks to ensure production quality standards are met and product complaints are processed and reported in a timely manner. Under direct supervision, performs the setup of equipment, fixtures, components, cables, etc. for test. Performs some mechanical disassembles/assemblies. Performs hand setups for AC and digital tests, recognizes failures and setup problems, and determines need for appropriate verification. Documents complaint findings and instructions for reworking product. Instructions are given for all duties, and work performance is constantly checked.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Receive, verify, and perform initial root-cause investigation testing on returned product complaints using detailed troubleshooting skills at system assembly levels
  • Fully support the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of the incumbent's work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements (including but not limited to being current on all training requirements for the incumbent's position and documenting that training)
  • Performs non automated functional testing on all products
  • Troubleshoots all mechanical assemblies. Learn to troubleshoot electromechanical devices that exhibit problems per test specifications
  • Exhibits basic understanding of TPIs and product functionality
  • Train Investigation Techs as required
  • Follows procedures from SFP (Shop Floor Paperwork) and has knowledge of how MPI’s, TPI’s, drawings, etc. are used
  • Forward complaints documentation for approval after ensuring all necessary analysis and investigation information is complete
  • Learns process to disposition non-conforming material by utilizing quality tools and by developing knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize work throughout the day and understand standard work
  • Provides support for Capital Equipment Manufacturing, Repair Operations, Complaint Investigation Engineering, and any other internal customer as required

Required qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience and an AA Degree or equivalent combination of education/work experience in related discipline 
  • Experience diagnosing problems using basic troubleshooting skills on wide variety of products per test specifications
  • Understand and follow test processes and work instructions with application to general product knowledge and operation
  • Experience in documenting failure analysis and ability to write summaries of repairs
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experienced with manufacturing and/or repair of medical device capital equipment
  • Ability to interpret design sketches of complex and/or advanced electronic units
  • Setting up, calibrating, and modification of complex test apparatus and/or devising complex test equipment and circuitry
  • Prior demonstration of finding root cause failure of equipment
  • Prior demonstration and commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to Quality System requirements in a regulated medical device environment.
  • Broad knowledge of general technical concepts and practices in the field of electronics, including both hardware and software
