About the role:
The Laboratory Supervisor - Equipment Management is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, organization, and strategic planning of laboratory equipment and resources. This is a highly functional, hands-on role where the supervisor is actively engaged in day-to-day activities. The supervisor will be directly involved in locating equipment, transporting items for calibration, and ensuring that all equipment is consistently maintained and calibrated within required due dates. In addition, this role requires in-depth knowledge of internal equipment management systems, including BMRAM, as well as proficiency in SAP and myBuy for procurement processes. The supervisor will collaborate closely with management to develop and execute comprehensive lab strategy plans, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an on-site work model requiring employees to work from our Arden Hills, MN office five days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee daily operations related to laboratory equipment, including inventory, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Actively participate in hands-on tasks such as locating equipment, bringing equipment to calibration, and monitoring calibration schedules to ensure all equipment remains within due dates.
- Utilize internal equipment management systems such as BMRAM for tracking, reporting, and lifecycle management of lab assets.
- Manage procurement activities using SAP and myBuy, including sourcing, purchasing, and vendor communication for laboratory equipment, laboratory visits for calibrations and supplies.
- Lead a small team of lab coordinators while focusing on their development and career progression strategies.
- Develop and implement lab strategy plans in collaboration with management to support research and business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards for all laboratory equipment and activities.
- Train and supervise laboratory staff in equipment usage, care, and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment and systems, escalating to vendors or technical support when necessary.
- Participate in budget planning and cost control related to equipment management and procurement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the laboratory environment.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory management, with direct responsibility for equipment oversight.
- Demonstrated expertise using equipment management systems, preferably BMRAM.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience in developing and executing strategic plans for laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and management.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proficiency in SAP and myBuy for procurement and inventory processes.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
