About this role:

As part of the Peripheral Interventions electronic medical equipment R&D team, this position’s primary responsibilities include leading a group of systems R&D engineers in support of equipment used to perform various medical procedures spanning Boston Scientific’s Peripheral Interventions Portfolio (e.g. cryoablation consoles, thrombectomy equipment, microwave generators, etc). You will oversee the development and management of the staff resources and processes required to deliver new products as well as upgrade existing products on time and in high quality. You will be tasked with building and empowering a strong team capable of delivering multi-projects needs for the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Monitors and troubleshoots performance and schedule issues.
  • Coordinate walkthroughs and design reviews; ensures conformance to standards and adherence to design controls.
  • Oversee performance of individual team members and team as a whole. Identifies and addresses staff training and development needs.
  • Work with the team to ensure sufficient processes and tools are in place to meet the requirements of the business
  • Oversee/review system test plans, test procedures and execute system verification and validation tests
  • Experience in capital equipment control systems required
  • Manage sustaining engineering efforts by coordinating with project management on end of life components, software release cadence, product lifecycle releases, and executing on corrective actions
  • Participate in defining and implementing requirements management across the product portfolio
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide system support for Manufacturing and Field Service needs
  • Ensure that systems are developed and documented in accordance with internal SOPs (e.g. Design Control) and international standards such as ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and IEC 60601
  • Ensure that systems meet customer requirements through product requirements and usability analysis
     
    Requirements:
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a technical manager in a highly regulated industry
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in electronic medical equipment product development
  • Hands-on, embedded product integration, verification and validation planning, test strategy development, design of test protocols and executing system testing.
  • Proven Leadership and Management of a technical group providing coaching and development
  • Expert knowledge of standard development tools
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable Quality System Standards
  • Knowledge of the product life cycle processes for embedded and capital systems
  • Demonstrated ability to create functional specifications
  • Extensive hands-on experience with building prototype devices, performing experiments, and troubleshooting designs
  • Experienced with developing and verifying products to applicable medical device safety standards
  • Experienced with specifying and developing production tests for system designs
