About this role:
Within Global Clinical Operations, our mission is to ignite what’s possible. Our efforts to align clinical site management and monitoring into a Center of Excellence (COE) is one of the many elements we are pursuing to achieve this mission. Specifically, this Sr. Manager role is responsible for leading a worldwide team of clinical contract and budget specialists within the Clinical Research Center of Excellence, and conducting activities to inform, connect and advance the company's Global Clinical Organization. Through coordination with enterprise-wide partners, this role will lead a team of individuals to ensure excellence in clinical trials execution in collaboration with colleagues across BSC.  Through their strong leadership, the Sr. Manager will ensure that activities managed by the team are carried out consistent with service level agreements, legal and regulatory guidance provided by the Legal & Compliance Department, and applicable company policies and procedures.   
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily direction to the team to ensure proper site coverage and prioritization of tasks 
  • Coordinating with Clinical Trial Managers across divisions to ensure consistency and scalability of service
  • Refining and analyzing performance-level metrics at the project, program and departmental level
  • Preparing meaningful and timely updates for divisional Vice Presidents, Directors, BSC Legal and other executive management regarding performance-level metrics
  • Leading COE process refinement and enhancement to drive efficiency and improve quality
  • Ensuring that teams are qualified by experience and training
  • Coordinating with and providing updates to leadership, clinical study teams and BSC Legal to continually prioritize site management as new information and/or considerations are introduced to keep pace with the overall service level targets  
  • Maintaining and staying current with divisional leadership to understand their priorities as applicable to the COE
  • Engaging leadership, divisional clinical study leads and BSC Legal  consistent with existing escalation pathways upon identification of issues that may impact achievement of service level agreements and/or study timelines
  • Working directly and collaboratively with BSC Legal to:
  • Ensure COE team members are trained to and compliant with intracompany processes
  • Ensure all CSA revisions (and any budget revisions, if needed) are escalated to BSC Legal for its review, revision and negotiation
  • Escalate and defer any regulatory, quality, compliance and/or other legal issues to BSC Legal
  • Maintain an indirect reporting arrangement with assigned legal counsel
  • Ensuring compliance with BSC SOPs/WI, policies and procedures
  • Identifying and supporting the implementation of technologies or tools to add process efficiency

What we’re looking for in you:
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years’ leadership experience in clinical/scientific research and medical device experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in negotiating and / or leading teams negotiating clinical study contracts and budgets
  • Management skills with an ability to coach, lead, and inspire
  • Experience working with clinical research centers
  • Experience working with clinical trial management systems (e.g. Siebel CTMS, Veeva) and clinical document control systems / eTrial Master Files
  • Experience following standard operating procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WIs) in a quality environment

  • Leadership and communication, change management and collaboration skills across all levels of the organization
