Manufacturing Engineer I
 

About the role
Arden Hills Operations is looking for a entry-level engineer, preferably with an interest in learning more about one of the following specialties: CNC machining, or Battery/chemical technology.  Provides support to the Manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, to optimize existing processes, and to ensure that production goals are met. Monitor’s performance of equipment, machines and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields or product quality issues.  Interfaces with Quality and Research and Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into the existing manufacturing area.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provides engineering analysis for yield fallout investigations, process monitor signals, manufacturing instruction compliance, product containment bounding, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with vendors/suppliers to design and procure tooling, fixtures, and/or equipment
  • Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders, technicians, and peers
  • Identify and execute Value Improvement (VIP), DMAIC and other projects.  Lead projects with cross functional team members working towards a common goal.
  • Collect data and perform statistical analysis for process characterization, Cpk, and scrap reduction goals.
  • Successfully completes complex engineering work and contributes to new product development teams and product support, typically including the following activities: technology development, test of materials or products, preparation of specifications, Six Sigma, process study, process improvements, and report preparation.
  • Selects process improvement techniques to solve complex problems and make sound equipment and process recommendations.
  • Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.
  • Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers.  Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters.  Acts as a spokesperson to internal teams on business unit current and future capabilities.
  • Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion.  Understands the business needs of the company and has knowledge of the customer needs of our business.  Understands the business cycle and foresight of emerging technologies trends.
  • Leads and communicates effectively on cross-functional project teams. 

 

What we're looking for

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical)
  • Engages in day-to-day operations and is driven by a natural curiosity to solve problems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Experience using statistical software (Minitab preferred)

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter with the ability to identify improvement opportunities
  • Able to work independently under limited supervision as well as in a team environment
  • Able to read, understand, and communicate procedural requirements
  • Previous Medical Device industry or other highly regulated device manufacturing experience preferred
  • Previous machine shop/familiarity, or battery/chemical engineering experience
  • Develops creative solutions individually and collaboratively draws ideas from cross functional teams.  Advocates for his or her ideas with passion while listening to and considering the ideas of the team.
  • Is resilient in the face of setbacks.  Plans appropriately for risks and responds positively to unforeseen problems
  • Positive agent for change, not bound by the way things are or have always been done
  • Takes initiative to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize them, communicate them to the appropriate levels and sees them through to completion
