About the Role
This position assists in the development, verification, and sustaining of packaging for Class I, II, and III medical devices. This is accomplished by creation of component/device specifications, creation and execution of design verification protocols, testing and analysis of data, creation of reports, and implementation and assessments of designs/design changes. This includes supporting project teams in design, quality assurance, risk management, purchasing, marketing, regulatory, and other deliverables. You will work under direct supervision/guidance in a fast-paced and collaborative environment applying problem solving tools to support project deliverables.
Your responsibilities include:
- Successfully complete basic packaging / product development tasks, including any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications; maintaining documentation; testing processes, equipment, raw materials, and product; and validating equipment and processes.
- Work independently to plan activities necessary to meet timelines.
- Complete packaging tests and experiments for new product development and existing design improvements.
- Perform troubleshooting on new problems, as related to design, material, or process.
- Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results.
- Generate packaging-related documentation, including specifications, test plans and reports, and other Product Development Plan (PDP) documents.
- As applicable, train technicians or operators on new processes or test procedures.
- Apply Technology Development Plan (TDP) and PDP methodologies.
- Serve as a core team member or extended team member on New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining projects.
- Identify areas for improvements in design/manufacture/sustainability, suggest solutions, and submit Value Improvement Projects (VIP) records and Corporate Social Responsibility Sustainability Case Studies.
- Work cooperatively with various BSC departments, divisions, and suppliers, to ensure an improved, practical, and consistent approach to packaging.
- Assures that appropriate resources (personnel, tools, etc.) are maintained in order to assure Quality System compliance and adherence to the BSC Quality Policy.
- Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and advances in medical device packaging.
What we’re looking for:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science
- 0-1 year of experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Visio)
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
- Prior internship/co-op experience with Boston Scientific
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of applicable medical device packaging regulations, equipment, testing, processes
- Ability to work in a cross-function teams
- High level of organizational skills to effectively manage simultaneous projects
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
