About the Role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a principal engineer to provide technical leadership for Cybersecurity and Device Management solutions. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated security professional to contribute to the creation and management of capital medical equipment.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and technical skills to oversee both the functional and technical aspects of a product cybersecurity program. They will collaborate closely with internal staff and consultants to execute key components of the program. Working alongside analysts, IT/R&D engineers, and architects, the candidate will support pre- and post-market cybersecurity activities. A background in IT security—specifically with the Cumulocity IoT platform, AWS, and mobility management—is essential, as these skills will be applied to medical devices. Additionally, experience with Azure or Entra for identity management is highly desirable.

Within the Global Product Cybersecurity Team, we support our business partners by providing cost-effective solutions to remotely manage and support multiple lines of business. We also consult on emerging technologies, explore technical solutions to business challenges, and offer guidance on product cybersecurity.

 

This position is part of the Cybersecurity and Device Management team within the Global Research and Development organization and reports directly to the Senior Manager of Global Product Cybersecurity.

 

Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional technical teams, collaborating with corporate IT and divisional engineering groups to drive cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Provide cybersecurity expertise for managed platforms and solutions, leveraging Cumulocity, AWS, Mobile Device Management, Azure, and/or Entra.
  • Define the technical direction for Cybersecurity and Device Management platforms to meet evolving medical device requirements.
  • Develop clear, well-structured reports that effectively communicate technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design and implement secure solutions that address unmet customer needs.
  • Continuously monitor platform performance to ensure compliance with internal and external SLAs.
  • Enhance solution maturity, quality, and efficiency through automation.
  • Identify opportunities for new services and processes, leading their development and implementation.
  • Strengthen team resilience by providing formal and informal training on relevant technologies and processes.
  • Offer technical support for medical device engineering teams working with supported products.
  • Work closely with process development, quality, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure project success.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of challenges and constraints within the healthcare delivery environment and apply that knowledge to develop effective solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and federal/country-specific requirements.


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with a strong understanding of security concepts in the field.
  • 2+ years of senior-level experience leading or contributing to a technical team.
  • Experience in security and device management.
  • Foundational understanding of Python programming.
  • Experience working with the Software AG Cumulocity IoT platform.
  • Experience with Entra and/or Azure identity management.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
