About the role:

The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a key leader, independently driving complex initiatives that support the daily operations of a dynamic battery and capacitor manufacturing plant located in Arden Hills, MN.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing products, processes, materials, and equipment to meet and exceed production goals in quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and safety. You will play a pivotal part in strengthening the technical rigor within the manufacturing engineering team, applying a strong foundation in DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) and process optimization.   

 

This is an onsite position from our Arden Hills, MN location. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Initiates, drives and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company.  
  • Prepares reports, publishes, and makes presentations to communicate findings. 
  • Analyzes and solves problems from engineering principles, theories and concepts through to a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches or a major breakthrough in technology. 
  • Understands engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques.  
  • Influences decisions around alternative engineering processes, products, or equipment. 
  • Cultivates internal and external network of resources to complete tasks.
  • Serves as a resource in the selection orientation and training of new engineers and employees.
  • Mentors junior engineers in the use of tools and principles to solve problems.
  • Interacts cross functionally and with internal and external customers.  Serves as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters.  
  • Acts as a spokesperson to customers on business unit current and future capabilities. 
  • Utilizes tools and concepts like root cause problem solving, DMAIC, process improvement and Design of Experiments to solve problems.
  • Assesses process capabilities, prioritizes process improvement opportunities, and innovates and implements process improvements on complex projects. 


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Chemical or Mechanical)
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or related fields (advanced degree with 5+ years of experience may be considered)
  • Demonstrated track record for value creation, critical thinking and an ability to solve complex problems in manufacturing
  • Experience mentoring engineers in root cause problem solving, process improvement, DMAIC and Design of Experiments  
  • Experience performing multiple process characterizations across various technologies 

 
Preferred qualifications:  

  • Experience training engineers in problem solving and process improvement tools 
  • DMAIC Green Belt Certified and Black Belt in Training

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
