About the role: 

 

Boston Scientific is seeking a Privacy Operations Manager to join the legal department as part of the expanding Global Privacy Team. In this role, you will play a key part in a leading, innovative medical device company, addressing a wide range of privacy and data protection matters across the global organization. Your responsibilities will include leading the privacy impact assessment process, enhancing privacy policies and procedures, managing a privacy training and awareness program, coordinating responses to individuals exercising their data rights, and supporting special privacy projects to drive business initiatives. This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to a growing team and drive impactful privacy initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Overseeing the privacy operations team and managing its functional responsibilities
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal business unit employees regarding privacy impact assessments, policies, training, and related inquiries
  • Acting as a liaison between the privacy team, global internal audit team, and various business functions to support the completion of audit action plans related to business processes and policies
  • Coordinating review and input from relevant business unit employees to ensure privacy documents are accurately completed
  • Leading the company’s privacy awareness, training, and enrichment program to promote a culture of compliance
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and privacy/data protection laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Implementing and facilitating HIPAA compliance procedures and training
  • Supporting legal counsel in managing privacy projects, including assisting with potential privacy incident investigations
  • Conducting research on privacy and data protection legal issues
  • Managing the process for handling requests from individuals exercising their data rights
  • Monitoring and organizing communications within the Global Privacy mailbox across divisions and functions
  • Driving continuous improvement of policies and standard operating procedures to protect personally identifiable information
  • Keeping internal teams informed of evolving data protection and privacy regulatory requirements that may impact business operations

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in privacy and project management/administration
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, multiple geographies, internal subject matter experts, legal staff, vendors, and clients. 
  • Ability to prioritize and complete daily workload and projects with minimal supervision and in accordance with deadlines and shifting priorities. 
  • Ability to communicate and manage personal project timelines and responsibilities. 
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills. 
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office and Adobe software). 
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and present it in a meaningful and concise way. 

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • Certification in privacy and data protection (e.g. CIPP, CIPM, CHPC). 
  • Interest in and fundamental understanding of privacy laws, including HIPAA and other applicable U.S. privacy laws (federal and state), preferred; familiarity with global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, LGPD, PIPL) desirable. 
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt and work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic global work environment under limited supervision. 
  • Contribute to various internal operations projects (i.e., form templates, policies, training, governance).

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
