Product Owner, Service Transformation (Magellan) - GSMS
About the Role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a Product Owner to lead the service transformation of our Global Service Management System (GSMS) as part of Magellan, the company-wide program moving Boston Scientific from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. GSMS spans Salesforce/ServiceMax and SAP, so the Magellan transformation reshapes both applications and the integrations between them.
In this role, you will own the vision, scope, and backlog for Capital Equipment Service within Magellan. You will represent the service business across deployments, drive service trade-off, and priority decisions, and ensure that what is designed, built, tested, and deployed enables field service, technical support, service contracting and service-to-cash processes. You will partner closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Functional Analysts, the Magellan program team, and cross-functional towers such as Commercial, Order Management, Finance and Logistics.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Vision & scope: Own the product vision, scope and roadmap for service within Magellan, aligned to the Global Template and the program’s deployment plan.
- Global Template alignment & fit gap: Lead Global Template alignment with regional service teams and own the disposition of gaps and pain points (adopt, change Global Template, new build, or business process change) so only justified build enters the backlog.
- Backlog ownership: Own and prioritize the Magellan service backlog across SAP S/4 and Salesforce/ServiceMax, including carried forward defects and enhancements from prior deployments.
- Trade-off decisions: Make timely service scope and priority decisions, balancing business value, compliance, program milestones, and team capacity.
- Requirements acceptance: Set expectations for, review and accept Features, user stories and acceptance criteria written by Business Analysts; confirm Definition of Ready before work enters planning.
- Cross-tower alignment: Represent service in cross-functional design and integration discussions with Commercial, Order Management, Finance, Logistics, and other towers, making sure end-to-end service-to-cash processes work across both platforms.
- Program governance: Represent service in Magellan forums (for example Key Design Decisions, architecture reviews, business scope reviews, and Business Change Impact/OCE), and provide status, risks, and dependencies into program governance.
- Solution partnership: Work with Solution Architects and Functional Analysts to sequence Features and user stories and confirm that proposed solutions meet business intent, without owning technical design.
- Test & release readiness: Define business test expectations, participate in test readiness and deployment readiness decisions, and accept delivered Features as the business owner.
- Deployment & Change: Partner with business process owners and change management to identify business change impacts, and support cutover, go-live and hypercare exit for service.
- Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with regional service leaders, super users, and business process teams across the US, EMEA, APAC, and other regions.
What We’re Looking For:
This role is ideal for someone who is energized by transformation and comfortable making decisions in a complex, multi-team program. You bring a strong business perspective, you can say no as clearly as you say yes, and you know how to keep the service business at the center of design choices across SAP and Salesforce. You communicate clearly with both leadership and delivery teams, and you thrive in a global, cross-cultural environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Business Systems lead on enterprise applications.
- Experience with large-scale ERP transformation, preferably SAP S/4HANA (service, sales and distribution or related modules).
- Working knowledge of Salesforce and/or ServiceMax and of integrations between CRM/field service and ERP platforms.
- Understanding capital equipment service processes (installed base, cases, work orders, parts, service contracts, billing).
- Experience working in Agile Delivery (Scrum and/or PI-based planning) using tools such as Jira. Experience in a regulated environment (for example, medical devices or pharma), including validated systems.
- Product Owner certification (for example CSPO or PSPO) is a plus.
