About the role:
As an R&D Engineering Intern at Boston Scientific, you will contribute to the research, design, development, testing, and documentation of medical device products and test equipment. You will gain valuable hands-on experience in supporting product development initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. This role provides exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines and supports the continued delivery of high-quality, innovative medical solutions.

 

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:

• Support product development activities including research, design input, and component/system-level testing

• Contribute to maintaining company Quality Systems to ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other regulatory bodies

• Assist in preparing documentation and supporting communications for regulatory audits, registrations, and facility licensing

• Perform basic regulatory compliance assessments as directed

• Assist in the implementation of quality inspection procedures, including sampling plans for components and finished goods

• Support the development and implementation of manufacturing fixtures, measurement systems, and tool calibration processes

• Review and update controlled documents such as work instructions, engineering specifications, protocols, and procedures

• Promote and adhere to safety procedures in all job functions

• Maintain accurate quality-related logs and records, including inspection datasheets, lab notebooks, CAPA, NCMR, ASL, CAL/PM, and training documentation

• Support other duties and special projects as assigned

 

Required qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year’s progress toward a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Software, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

• Experience with basic engineering laboratory equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes)

• English language proficiency (reading, writing, and grammar)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Must have prior internship experience with Axonics 

 

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment

• Knowledge of additional engineering disciplines such as Biomedical, Electrical, or Software Engineering

• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
