The Senior Electronics Technician will contribute to product development, troubleshoot both product and design, and help manage the lab for the team. 
 
Our R&D team designs the capital equipment used to treat clots and pulmonary embolism using mechanical- and ultrasound- based devices and to treat cancers by freezing the tumor. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you'll be at the heart of our mission to develop best-in-class medical devices as part of the Peripheral Interventions portfolio. The location of this position will start at the "Round Lake" site in Arden Hills and move to Boston Scientific's Maple Grove site in 2022.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Participate in brainstorming and troubleshooting activities to evaluate and select product and custom tool designs. 
  • Build prototypes of circuits, test fixtures and harnesses.
  • Evaluate, troubleshot, and rework electrical systems and devices for new products, existing products, prototypes, production tools, and test fixtures.
  • Perform tests and document results, consistently and accurately with general direction.
  • Order lab supplies and materials used for both research and product development activities. 
  • Schedule calibration and qualification of test and measurement equipment to support design and testing engagements planned over the next six months. 
  • Maintain the lab space, keeping benches, equipment and materials organized and ready for use. 
  • Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by the Line Manager.

 
Basic Requirments:

  • Associates Degree/Diploma or Equivalent combination of education/Work expereince 
  • Hands-on experience building prototype electronic devices including soldering fine-pitch surface mount components and cable assemblies.
  • 6+ years of experience in electronics assembly and troubleshooting, preferably with an R&D team in the medical device, automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to plan and coordinate work, write detailed work instructions, and document prototype designs.
  • Expert use of electronics test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, etc.

 
Preffered Requirments:

  • Competent use of schematic capture and layout tools to analyze circuits
  • Able to evaluate and troubleshoot both analog and digital electrical circuits and the firmware that controls them.
  • Handwriting sufficiently neat for paper-based records when needed.
  • Accurately scope out the length and difficulty of tasks and projects
  • Can coordinate multiple activities at the same time to support project goals.
  • Quickly sense what will help or hinder completing assigned tasks and projects.
