About the role:

The Sr. Buyer/Planner supports manufacturing and supply chain operations by managing the planning and timely procurement of raw materials to ensure optimal inventory levels and meet product demand.  This role partners closely with suppliers, production teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve cost-effective sourcing, on-time delivery and ensure operational success.  You will play a critical role in implementing strategic procurement plans, driving supplier performance and supply chain improvements to ensure an efficient production flow and alignment with organizational goals.

 

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing raw material purchasing processes end-to-end; balance cost and quality to ensure maximum savings
  • Managing moderate-to-highly complex commodities to ensure procurement decisions aligned with cost, inventory, and service goals
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient material throughput
  • Processing and tracking purchase orders through MRP systems; support planning accuracy and communicate delays or constraints to internal teams
  • Analyzing supply chain performance to drive improvements in forecast accuracy, inventory, backorders
  • Approving orders for raw materials and maintaining master purchasing data to ensure accuracy
  • Collaborating with planning teams to prioritize material support and optimize inventory levels; identify and disposition materials that are expired, excess, or obsolete
  • Assessing supplier performance to resolve issues and drive improvements, while nurturing relationships
  • Leveraging Kinaxis RapidResponse and similar systems to support SI&OP processes and planning initiatives
  • Communicating with suppliers to ensure timely procurement, support demand planning, and maintain targeted inventory levels
  • Generating continuous improvement projects related to raw material purchasing

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, industrial engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 6 years of purchasing, supply chain, inventory management, or planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 5% globally

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SAP, APICS certification, and inventory systems
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and ERP systems such as SAP or RapidResponse
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external teams
  • Strategic mindset and project management experience
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively resolve complex supply chain issues
  • Proficient in using forecasting tools to manage and project inventory levels
  • Experience in the medical device industry

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
