About the role: 
Boston Scientific is currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the IT Global Operations Data & Analytics team.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced team focused on enhancing and enabling data-driven decision making.  The ITGO Data & Analytics team facilitates the pipeline engineering of the desired data end-state, leveraging emerging tools and technologies, while evolving and refining standards and methodologies. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develops software that processes, stores, and serves data for use by others.
  • Develops large scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data that helps generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
  • Writes ETL processes, designs database systems and develops tools for real-time analytic processing.
  • Develops and maintains optimal data pipelines into the unified data platform, including design of data flows, procedures, and schedules. Ensures that optimal data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure.
  • Troubleshoots software and processes for data consistency and integrity. Integrates data from a variety of sources, assuring that they adhere to data quality and accessibility standards.
  • Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur.
  • Interacts with internal peers and managers to exchange complex information related to areas of specialization.

 

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in data engineering OR a Graduate Degree in a technical discipline and at least 3 years of experience in data engineering
  • Deep knowledge of big data platforms, experience in writing SPARK code using both Python or Scala
  • Experience and significant understanding in AWS services (EMR, S3, Athena, Glue, Step Functions, Cloud Formation, Event Rules) and Unix Shell scripting.
  • Experience and significant understanding with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git and worked with deployment of Cloud Formations stacks in AWS)
  • Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal (peers, business partners and leadership) and external (business community, clients, and vendors) within a matrix organization to ensure quality standards for service.
  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex business issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Expert knowledge of Scala.
  • Good understanding/experience with Snowflake & Redshift
  • Technical People Leadership or mentoring roles
  • Experience in a Medical Device company
