About the role:
The Senior Global Marketing Director will build a consistent launch excellence discipline for Boston Scientific’s Electrophysiology (EP) business across its franchises, and ensure the success of the Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) and mapping/radiofrequency (RF) commercial marketing organization. Boston Scientific’s integrated PFA and mapping portfolio will be a significant growth driver for the business and is positioned to transform the treatment of atrial fibrillation. This is a critical, high visibility role focused on harmonizing the EP commercial strategy across the portfolio, driving the launch of multiple products globally, evolving the portfolio, seeking new solutions and championing global commercial execution to ensure achievement of ambitious growth targets.
The Senior Director will play a leadership role across a cadence of global launches for these technologies. They will lead their team to ensure a consistent global brand and achievement of launch metrics. This role will achieve their goals working through their team as well as in direct collaboration with key functions, regions and countries. This is a hands- on role with opportunities to go deep in both strategy and execution.
The Senior Director leverages strengths in portfolio marketing, global launch excellence, strategic planning and cross- functional collaboration to accelerate business success. They will take action in the context of a deep understanding of the market and ensure consistent customer focus, organizational communication and global mindset. This role requires a leader who is eager to foster transformational change, develop talent and leverage organizational influence to establish strategies and tactics to grow their franchises. The incumbent will ensure that the EP business is properly allocating resources, embracing diversity, and developing key capabilities to win.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Build EP launch excellence discipline. Work across EP marketing to develop a planning discipline, drive best practice and harmonize strategies, pricing/contracting and plans to ensure a consistent, customer centric experience.
- Proactively plan, collaborate and align with marketing partners, sales, R&D, regional counterparts and other cross-functional team members to develop strategies and execute plans synergistically to deliver overall revenue and profit objectives.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and interaction with clinical and economic customers and thought leaders to ensure the right inputs into our portfolio, evidence, market development and commercial plans.
- Ensure data-driven recommendations for future pipeline investments, new product development programs, launch strategies, pricing/contracting based on sound customer, market and competitive insights as well as financial assessment.
- Support the team in delivering on major product launches and downstream marketing execution for currently marketed products.
- Align prioritization and resourcing for key initiatives through appropriate governance teams, establish and report key project metrics, and identify, report, and drive solutions for project risks.
- Drive strategy and partnerships with customers globally.
- Oversee post-launch monitoring and triage launch issues in collaboration with product marketing leaders.
- Oversee launch forecasting (product / country / timing) and landscape to inform risk escalations to leadership.
- Establish strong relationships with other functions impacting marketing activities, analytics and supply forecast (Sales, Sales Ops, HEMA, Medical Affairs, Medical Education, Clinical, Regulatory affairs, finance, operations, etc.).
- Continuously measure the impact of marketing initiatives, generate early learnings, and drive continuous improvement to achieve revenue and operating income targets.
- Continually interact with other franchise/divisional peers (Access Solutions, WATCHMAN, CRMDx, ICTx) to share, and promote, best practices.
- Attract, lead and develop direct reports and organizational competencies. Foster a diverse workplace. Actively coach and mentor organizational talent by creating opportunities for challenge and skill advancement, with appropriate reward and recognition.
- Demonstrate strong communication and change leadership in support of franchise/business strategies that engage the team, strengthen collaboration and foster a culture of winning spirit
- Maintain compliance to all quality and regulatory requirements.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, and preferably MBA focused on business, marketing or significant relevant commercial experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant commercial experience; pharmaceutical, medical device experience with capital/disposable platforms preferred
- Experience related to interventional cardiology, structural heart, or electrophysiology markets.
- Significant commercial leadership experience including leading 10+ years of experience leading direct and cross-functional teams, building and executing commercial strategies, significant market knowledge including field sales, and global collaboration to launch new products.
- Demonstrated success driving global launch excellence for new products.
- Proven ability to develop new business programs and positively impact business trajectories with experience in customer research, strategy development, new product development and commercialization.
- Experience working globally in a virtual & matrix organization, directly across multiple countries/regions, with proven ability to work within areas of cultural difference or consumer sensitivity.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, estimated 30% travel.
Preferred qualifications:
- Working experience in product management or medical device sales experience preferred, with a sustained track record of success.
- Preferred experience in working in Asia Pacific markets in addition to other geographies.
- Experience in integrating new teams, businesses and companies into larger organizations highly desired, especially in EMEA and APAC regions.
- Action oriented strategic thinker, with a natural ability to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders
- Strong strategic skill set and proactive cross-functional team player with capability to communicate concisely at a senior management level and across business units
- Ability to engage and influence cross-functional colleagues, even without direct reporting relationships
