About the role:

In this role, you will support the development and implementation of health policy, health economics, and reimbursement initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and external stakeholders to analyze data, evaluate Medicare policy trends, and contribute to strategies that help ensure patient access to innovative medical technologies from a global market leader.

 

Work model and sponsorship:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Arden Hills, MN office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Apply knowledge of available data assets, such as Medicare claims data and CMS payment information, to identify opportunities and execute analyses that advance business unit goals.
  • Support the development of Medicare policy and analytics projects, including claims data analyses, creation of analytic plans, and interpretation of results to demonstrate value propositions.
  • Conduct Medicare data analyses to inform key stakeholders on the impact of Medicare rules and assess their implications for healthcare delivery and market access of Boston Scientific products.
  • Apply knowledge of key data assets (e.g., Medicare claims data, CMS payment information) to design and perform analyses that generate insights supporting strategic business priorities.
  • Support the maintenance of Medicare datasets and analytical tools to help enable proactive policy analysis and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with business teams to identify insights, trends, opportunities, interventions, and solutions that support market access of BSC products.
  • Own and drive analytics and analytics resources to address reimbursement, coding, and documentation inquiries from divisional stakeholders.
  • Develop and promote analytical best practices within and across product franchises.
  • Research and apply new techniques for advanced analyses; create, monitor, review, and improve methods and techniques continuously.   
  • Provide appropriate in-service training to business units to increase awareness and understanding of health economics and reimbursement competencies and their role in supporting a product’s success. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Required qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the medical technology industry or a related area.
  • Knowledge of U.S. healthcare systems including health policy trends, public and private payment systems (inpatient/outpatient/physician/ASC) and associated documentation/coding requirements.
  • Familiarity with Medicare claims data sets, including MedPAR, OPPS, and 100% SAFs.
  • Mastery of platform tools and software applications, separately and in combination, such as IQVIA, Medicare data files, XLSX, Tableau, PowerBI, with ability to envision, create, translate, and routinely deliver integrated data visualization tools for specific inquiries, KPIs, trends, dashboards, presentations, calculators, etc. for a variety of users. 
  • Intermediate or advanced SQL programming and data analysis.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Manage multiple internal client-related priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to advance initiatives independently and in a fast-paced matrix environment with minimal supervision. 
  • Can-do attitude with attention to detail, and oriented to precision, accuracy, continuous learning and developing skills.  
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings. 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an analytical discipline such as statistics, economics, finance, mathematics, or a similar discipline.
  • Technical expertise regarding relational databases, data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques, and programming languages (SQL, Python, or R). 
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, AWS, SPSS, SAS etc.). 
  • Snowflake experience.
  • Innovative, self-driven, high performer, key contributor with proven track record.
  • Responsiveness and sense of urgency when pursuing goals and completing tasks.
  • Experience working as part of both functional and cross-functional, matrixed teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Maximum Salary: $149300 

 

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
