Boston Scientific is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Senior Manager, Research & Development to lead product development across the Prosthetic Urology and Pelvic Floor franchises. This leader will drive innovation, execution and portfolio delivery across a diverse product portfolio focused on restoring function and improving quality of life for patients with urologic and pelvic floor disorders.
The Senior Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals responsible for new product development, product lifecycle management, global expansion initiatives and technology advancement. Through strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Marketing and Global Commercial teams, this leader will advance critical development programs, shape the future pipeline, accelerate global expansion opportunities and deliver meaningful innovation and business results for patients worldwide.
This is an on-site assigned role based in Maple Grove or Arden Hills, Minnesota.
Your responsibilities will include:
Portfolio leadership

- Lead R&D activities across the Prosthetic Urology and Pelvic Floor franchises, including products supporting erectile restoration, stress urinary incontinence, pelvic floor reconstruction and related technologies.
- Provide technical and organizational leadership for new product development programs, driving execution of strategic portfolio priorities.
- Support global product launches, international market expansion and the integration of emerging technologies into the portfolio.
Program and project execution

- Deliver projects on schedule, within budget and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Lead cross-functional teams through product development processes from concept through commercialization.
- Identify and mitigate technical, clinical, regulatory and operational risks across the portfolio.
- Establish clear priorities and resource allocation plans across a dynamic portfolio.
Technical leadership

- Provide engineering leadership across mechanical, materials, systems and product design disciplines.
- Foster innovation through technology scouting, voice-of-customer activities, clinical engagement and design excellence.
- Drive technical problem-solving and support post-market product improvements and reliability initiatives.
- Ensure robust design controls, risk management, and product verification and validation practices.
People leadership

- Build, coach and develop a high-performing engineering organization.
- Create an environment that promotes accountability, innovation, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Attract, retain and develop technical talent while establishing succession plans for key roles.
- Inspire teams through clear communication, employee development and strong cultural leadership.
Cross-functional influence

- Partner closely with Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Finance to achieve portfolio objectives.
- Serve as a key R&D representative on franchise leadership and project governance teams.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders and key opinion leaders to understand customer needs, clinical insights and emerging market trends.
Required qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in product development, engineering, medical devices or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience leading and managing technical teams.
- Demonstrated success leading complex medical device development programs.
- Strong understanding of design controls, risk management, quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working within highly matrixed, global organizations.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across functions.
Preferred qualifications:

- Experience in implantable medical devices, urology, pelvic health, neuromodulation or related therapeutic areas.
- Track record of building, developing and leading high-performing engineering organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with physicians and key opinion leaders, translating clinical insights and unmet needs into product, technology and portfolio opportunities.
- Strong business acumen with experience balancing strategic planning and operational execution.
- Experience supporting global product registrations and international product launches.
