About the Role:

As part of the supplier engineering function, the Material Program Manager (MPM) serves as the central facilitator between Global Sourcing (GS) and project teams to drive supply chain development.  This individual contributor role leverages engineering expertise and procedural knowledge to drive technical project management, while collaborating with cross-functional engineering groups—such as Research and Development, Process Development, and Supplier Engineering to mitigate risks, develop supply base and ensure component production readiness for new and next generation products. 

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy.  This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Understanding New Product Development Program
• patient treatment, product use, and overall business case
• key design/process features and performance requirements
• supplier landscape, key components, and overall risks/opportunities
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify key component risks, create material action plans, and drive mitigation actions
• Leveraging data-driven insights to influence design, process, and supplier engineering to achieve best supplier quality, service, and cost
• Infusing Global Sourcing strategies into NPD project decisions
• Driving component development and qualification activities through Supplier Engineering team
• Implementing strategies to mitigate roadblocks that could impact project success; communicating project status with key stakeholders and leadership
• Identifying resource allocation needs and changes in project requirements
• Partnering with direct purchasing and project teams to support material procurement; roll up material COGS and drive cost reduction efforts
• Identifying continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiency for the Material Program Management team and support the product life cycle process

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline with at least 5 years of engineering experience 
• Project management experience with ability to create process flows and execute deliverables

Preferred qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years working in medical device or similarly regulated industry 
• Experience managing large-scale and complex projects involving multiple functions and sites
• Ability to navigate ambiguous situations with strong conflict management and resolution skills
• Strong leadership skills with ability to influence change and drive performance cross-functionally
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels (written and verbally)
• Results-oriented, strong organizational skills; ability to manage competing priorities effectively 
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; analytical and process-driven
• Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain relationships

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
