The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing the overall Clinical portfolio by facilitating portfolio governance, strategic planning, annual operating planning, quarterly forecasting and monthly financial reviews. This role partners closely with functional leaders to develop and maintain resource models that improve the speed and accuracy of project estimates while supporting effective portfolio planning and execution.

 

Working collaboratively with leadership, project managers and cross-functional teams, the Senior Portfolio Manager ensures portfolio information is accurate, current and effectively communicated to key stakeholders, including senior leadership. This role plays a critical part in enabling informed decision-making through portfolio governance, financial management, resource planning and operational excellence.

 

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our Arden Hills, Minnesota, office at least three days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement portfolio governance standards, templates and reporting processes to drive consistent project reviews and executive communications.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure governance materials are complete, accurate and prepared in advance of key portfolio reviews and decision forums.
  • Establish communication standards and portfolio impact assessments that support informed decision-making across the organization.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans supporting portfolio management processes, continuous improvement initiatives and strategic portfolio objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure portfolio activities, deliverables and milestones are completed on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain detailed portfolio schedules while aligning key stakeholders to critical milestones and review cycles.
  • Maintain portfolio data within enterprise systems, including project milestones, timelines and key project metrics.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain portfolio budget, resource and reporting tools to improve portfolio visibility and decision-making.
  • Identify, assess and communicate portfolio risks while developing mitigation strategies in partnership with project teams and business stakeholders.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of portfolio strategy and project milestones to ensure recommendations align with overall business objectives.
  • Partner with functional resource managers to develop, update and maintain staffing models using portfolio and resource planning data.
  • Present resource models, portfolio analyses and operational recommendations to business and Clinical leadership.
  • Manage cross-functional communications related to portfolio budgets, schedules, resource capacity and project status.
  • Prepare and deliver portfolio updates, financial reports and risk assessments to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead portfolio financial management activities, including budgeting, forecasting, actuals tracking and financial planning.
  • Evaluate the impact of portfolio changes on budgets, schedules and resource allocation while partnering with functional and project leadership to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Build collaborative partnerships across internal organizations to maximize portfolio efficiency, responsiveness and resource utilization while demonstrating a servant leadership mindset.

 

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience as a project manager, data analyst or financial analyst.
  • Experience leading project management activities across multiple initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to gather business requirements and develop project reporting solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with project management and financial planning systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational change and implement portfolio management best practices.
  • Experience supporting portfolio planning, governance or resource management within a regulated industry.
  • Experience developing portfolio dashboards, resource models and executive reporting.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
