Boston Scientific is seeking a highly creative and strategically minded Senior Process Development Engineer within our Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group.
This role is responsible for developing the processes to manufacture novel sensor technology and associated devices to treat heart failure. This investigational device will be manufactured across multiple manufacturing sites.
The AIS group includes technologies that monitor, support diagnosis, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies for a patient’s entire continuum of care—from diagnostic to treatment. This division strives to innovate and create a paradigm shift that can solve unmet clinical needs and change what is possible for patients.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
This role follows an on-site work model. Employees are expected to work from our Arden Hills, MN office at least four days per week. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.
Your responsibilities will include:
● Apply technical knowledge to design and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation.
● Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and implement improvements on a novel manufacturing line.
● Execute process development deliverables in accordance with the Technical Development Process (TDP) and Quality Systems.
● Plan, organize, and lead technical reviews throughout the development lifecycle.
● Prepare process documentation that meets Quality Systems requirements (e.g., BOMs, Routers, FMEAs).
● Write and review validation protocols and reports for new or modified processes.
● Oversee development builds using special work requests as part of project support.
● Develop qualified, production-ready manufacturing lines.
● Coordinate with manufacturing sites and suppliers to support process readiness.
● Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to improve engineering print packages.
● Contribute ideas or submit proposals for Intellectual Property development.
● Train or direct technicians, engineers, or manufacturing personnel as part of validation and process handoff.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
● Hold a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
● Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude.
● Apply Six Sigma tools such as DOE and structured problem-solving.
● Bring a minimum of 5 years' experience in process development or improvement.
● Collaborate across functions in technically complex environments.
● Develop equipment and fixtures from concept through to production.
● Communicate effectively and manage time to meet project deadlines.
● Remain open to occasional travel up to 20%.
Preferred qualifications:
● Develop and implement innovative process and product solutions.
● Understand DFM, design control, quality systems, and product development (PLCP).
● Apply medical device design and new product development experience.
● Bring experience assembling electromechanical medical devices.
● Work effectively with contract manufacturers and/or material suppliers.
