About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated and experienced engineer to join our team as a Battery Design Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge battery technologies. You will also tackle technical hurdles within a global setting, fostering collaborations across diverse functions and locations. 

 

This is a hybrid position based in Arden Hills, MN with the expectation to be on-site four days.

Your responsibilities include: 

  • Assesses process capabilities, prioritizes process improvement opportunities, and innovates and implements process improvements on multiple and moderately complex processes.
  • Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling and/or automation.
  • Executes the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Manufacturing/Quality Systems.
  • Prepares and presents technical battery discharge data and recommendations at technical reviews.
  • Writes validation protocols and reports applicable to new processes.
  • Writes design analysis and verification test protocols and reports.
  • Ensures proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements. (e.g., BOM’s, Routers, FMEA’s, etc.)
  • Oversees development builds associated with the project using special work requests.
  • Develops qualified production lines.
  • May serve as a core team lead or extended team member on new development projects.
  • Possibly supervise and/or mentor engineers with the team.
  • Reviewing manufacturing changes from a design perspective.
  • Authoring Ripple Effects Analysis reports to assess proposed changes.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field 
  • 5+ years engineering experience
  • Demonstrated use of DFSS tools (DOE, problem solving)
  • Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in technically demanding environment.
  • Open to occasional travel.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Highly motivated individual that can independently drive deliverables to completion through collaboration among team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive innovative solutions into processes and products.
  • Medical device design experience; new product development.
  • Process development; equipment validation; process characterization and validation experience.
  • Experienced with developing and reviewing DFMEAs, HWDOS FMEAs, and design specifications/prints.
  • Experienced with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
